| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an Artalk instance before 2.10.1 that performs automatic page-title fetching on comment submission; an unauthenticated attacker sends an anonymous comment to /api/v2/comments with page_key set to an attacker-chosen internal or external URL, which GetTitleByURL fetches after only scheme validation (no host/port/private-IP allowlisting in vulnerable versions). Limiting factors: exfiltration is confined to the fetched resource's HTML title as surfaced in the public comment list (not full response bodies), so SSRF value is reconnaissance and title-level disclosure rather than bulk data theft; the fixed 2.10.1 release disables title auto-fetch by default (page_title_auto_fetch: false) and enforces a trusted_domains/site-URL allowlist across initial requests and redirects, so patched or manually-configured-off instances are not exposed via the comment path. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but moderate-priority issue, best characterized as a medium-severity information-disclosure SSRF rather than a critical remote-code-execution flaw. The input CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N) indicates network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated exploitation with no user interaction, and the description confirms this: anonymous comments to /api/v2/comments require no account. However, impact is deliberately narrow - only VC:L (limited confidentiality) with VI:N and VA:N - because the attacker recovers only the fetched page's title through the public comment list, not full response bodies, credentials, or write/availability impact. No EPSS score and no KEV status were provided, so there is no evidence of widespread or active exploitation; the vuln.today Decision label is 'this_month' (not act_now/emergency), consistent with a real-but-not-urgent SSRF. The signals are internally consistent - network vector, no auth, limited read-only impact - so there is no CVSS-vs-description conflict here. The main uncertainty is EPSS (missing) and real-world exposure of the auto-fetch feature; the vendor patch disables title auto-fetch by default, implying vulnerable (pre-2.10.1) deployments fetched titles automatically on comment submission. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A remote, unauthenticated attacker posts an anonymous comment to /api/v2/comments on an Artalk instance before 2.10.1, setting page_key to an internal URL such as a cloud metadata endpoint or an intranet service. Artalk's GetTitleByURL fetches that URL after validating only the scheme, and the attacker then reads the retrieved page title back through the public comment list, enabling internal network probing and limited data disclosure. No public working exploit is identified in the provided data, though a VulnCheck advisory and the upstream GitHub issue document the flaw. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 28, 2026
Unauthenticated server-side request forgery in Artalk versions before 2.10.1 lets remote attackers make the comment server fetch attacker-chosen URLs by submitting an anonymous comment to /api/v2/comments with page_key set to an internal or external address. The fetched resource's HTML title is then exposed through the public comment list, giving an attacker title-level read access to internal endpoints; the trigger is confined to deployments that perform automatic page-title fetching on comment submission, and the independent assessment rates the impact as limited-confidentiality (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N). No public exploit has been identified at time of analysis, the issue is not in CISA KEV, and vendor patches are available in the 2.10.1 release.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Artalk 2.10.1, which disables comment-triggered title fetching by default (page_title_auto_fetch: false) and enforces a trusted_domains / site-URL allowlist across initial requests and every HTTP or HTML redirect. If upgrading immediately is not possible, set page_title_auto_fetch to false on the existing installation (or leave it unset, since the fixed behavior treats omission as disabled) to remove the comment-driven fetch path while retaining administrator-triggered manual title refreshes; the trade-off is that pages without client-supplied titles will no longer have titles auto-populated on comment submission, while page creation and page-view counting are unaffected. Where automatic fetching is genuinely required, restrict the trusted-source list to only the site's own origins (paths are ignored for matching and '*' does not authorize arbitrary destinations), remembering that explicitly listed private-network sites and localhost remain fetchable and that HTTP_PROXY/HTTPS_PROXY/NO_PROXY settings still apply, so the list should be treated as an outbound-request authorization. Detection during the exposure window can focus on anonymous comment submissions whose page_key resolves to internal hosts or unusual ports; patched instances additionally log nothing special but skip automatic discovery when busy without affecting comment submission. Technical ContextAI · show details
Artalk is a self-hosted, Go-based comment system whose backend exposes /api/v2/comments for anonymous comment submission. The vulnerable code path is GetTitleByURL in internal/dao/service.go (lines 96-103 of v2.10.0), which retrieved a comment page's title from a client-supplied page_key URL with only scheme validation and no host, port or private-IP restrictions. This is a classic CWE-918 server-side request forgery: the server-side HTTP client, rather than the client browser, resolves and requests the attacker-specified destination, so loopback, link-local and internal-network addresses reachable from the Artalk host become requestable. Because the retrieved value is the document title, and the title is displayed alongside comments in the public list, the SSRF is a blind-to-semi-blind disclosure channel limited to whatever appears in the fetched page's <title> element rather than the full response body. The upstream fix (commit dae6bf49c9efec755a5b3ac3e379b4004c29a049) introduces a page_title_auto_fetch setting that is disabled by default (including when omitted from existing configurations, and toggleable via ATK_PAGE_TITLE_AUTO_FETCH), and applies a trusted_domains / dashboard-configured site-URL allowlist to the initial request and to every HTTP or HTML redirect, with paths ignored and '*' not authorizing arbitrary destinations. The hardened fetch path also caps redirects at 10, enforces a 30-second total deadline, reads only the first 2 MiB of the document head, and rate-limits comment-triggered automatic fetching to one task per second per instance with at most four concurrent tasks.

DescriptionCVE.org
Artalk before 2.10.1 contains an unauthenticated server-side request forgery vulnerability that allows remote attackers to make the server fetch arbitrary URLs by submitting anonymous comments to /api/v2/comments. Attackers can set a page_key to an internal URL, which GetTitleByURL fetches after only scheme validation, then read the page title through the public comment list.
