| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated administrator account (PR:H) and a Bazar form containing a file- or image-type field; the BazarImportAction ({{bazarimport}}) is enabled by default and guarded only by admin-level checkSecuredACL(). The attacker supplies a URL in a CSV file/image column, which reaches curl_init() unfiltered (CURLPROTO_ALL, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION=true, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER=false), allowing file://, gopher://, dict:// and HTTP(S) targets. The filename-extension allowlist is bypassed either via the '?.ext' parser differential (PHP basename() treats '?' literally while curl treats it as a query separator) or via redirect chains. Highest impact occurs on cloud deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure) where the 169.254.169.254 metadata endpoint exposes IAM credentials; the response is stored in the web-accessible files/ directory and retrievable by any unauthenticated visitor at a predictable URL. Principal limiting factor: the admin privilege requirement - this is not exploitable by anonymous or low-privilege users. |
| Impact | Signals point to a serious-but-gated vulnerability rather than a mass-exploitation emergency. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.2 (High) driven by network vector, low complexity, no user interaction, high confidentiality impact and a scope/subsequent-system change (VC:H/SC:H) - appropriate for an SSRF that reaches cloud IAM metadata and internal services. However, PR:H means exploitation requires an authenticated administrator, which sharply narrows the realistic attacker population and is the single biggest mitigating factor. EPSS is low at 0.34% (28th percentile), consistent with an admin-gated flaw in a niche product and with the absence of a CISA KEV listing - there is no confirmed active exploitation. A detailed public proof-of-concept exists in the GHSA advisory (CSV payload plus retrieval command), so the barrier to weaponization is low for anyone who already holds admin. The vuln.today 'this_week' decision label reflects a credible, well-documented issue that warrants prompt patching but not drop-everything emergency handling. Net: this is a real priority for any YesWiki instance running on a cloud provider with instance-metadata credentials, but the admin precondition keeps it well below internet-wide critical risk. Note one data conflict to verify: the top-level input and the GHSA summary line state a fix in 4.7.0, while the GHSA body text states 'no fix exists on any branch' as of the v4.6.7 checkout - confirm the actual fixed build with the vendor. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated YesWiki administrator (or an attacker who has obtained admin credentials) uploads a crafted CSV to a Bazar form's import action, placing a URL such as http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/role?.json in a file- or image-type column. The server fetches the URL via copyUrlToLocalFile() with no SSRF filtering and stores the full response - including cloud IAM credentials - in the web-accessible files/ directory, where any unauthenticated visitor can retrieve it. A step-by-step public PoC demonstrating exactly this is published in the GHSA advisory; it is a documented reproduction rather than a verified standalone exploit tool. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 28, 2026
Server-side request forgery in the Bazar CSV import action of YesWiki (all versions before 4.7.0, Composer package yeswiki/yeswiki, confirmed through 4.6.7) lets an authenticated administrator force the web server to issue arbitrary outbound requests by placing crafted URLs in CSV file or image field values, with the fetched response written into the web-accessible files/ directory and retrievable by any unauthenticated visitor at a predictable path. Because the raw URL reaches curl_init() without the SsrfUrlValidator::curlPin() guard used by every other outbound-request sink in the codebase, an attacker can reach cloud metadata endpoints (169.254.169.254 on AWS/GCP/Azure, exposing IAM credentials), internal network services, or local files via file://, gopher:// and dict://; the filename-extension allowlist is defeated by a '?.ext' parser differential between PHP basename() and curl or by a redirect chain under CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION. The upstream GHSA advisory publishes a step-by-step proof-of-concept walkthrough, but no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation is reported and EPSS is low at 0.34% (28th percentile); the principal limiting factor is the administrator-level privilege requirement, which keeps this off the mass-exploitation path.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: YesWiki 4.7.0 (Composer yeswiki/yeswiki 4.7.0) fixes this by routing copyUrlToLocalFile() through SsrfUrlValidator::curlPin() and restricting CURLOPT_PROTOCOLS to CURLPROTO_HTTP | CURLPROTO_HTTPS, consistent with the other outbound sinks in the codebase. Upgrade to 4.7.0 or later using the guidance in https://github.com/YesWiki/yeswiki/security/advisories/GHSA-v38g-qc7g-q3mq; the vendor notes that updating is the complete fix and that extension validation alone (the GHSA-v3gq-c7c6-mxw3 remediation) does not prevent connections to internal hosts. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, actionable interim controls are: remove or restrict the {{bazarimport}} action from wiki pages and limit CSV import to a small set of trusted administrators, accepting that either measure breaks legitimate bulk-import workflows; block outbound traffic from the web server process to link-local and private ranges (169.254.169.254/32 and RFC1918 address space) at the host or egress firewall, which stops the highest-impact cloud-metadata credential theft, and prefer IMDSv2-style session-token enforcement where the platform supports it; disable or chmod the files/ directory so newly written responses cannot be read anonymously, at the cost of breaking legitimate file delivery; and monitor outbound connections from the PHP process plus new files appearing in files/ for indicators of probe activity.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is CWE-918 (server-side request forgery) in YesWiki's Bazar toolchain. In tools/bazar/libs/bazar.fonct.misc.php:67-94, copyUrlToLocalFile() passes an attacker-controlled URL straight to curl_init() with no scheme, host or IP filtering, no CURLOPT_PROTOCOLS restriction (libcurl therefore defaults to CURLPROTO_ALL, which includes file://, gopher:// and dict://), CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION enabled and CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER disabled. YesWiki introduced an SsrfUrlValidator service with curlPin() pinning to protect its other outbound sinks (includes/services/ValeurAction.php, tools/bazar/services/ExternalBazarService.php, includes/services/SafeFile.php), but copyUrlToLocalFile() predates that service and was never migrated, so the codebase-wide invariant that every outbound request passes through curlPin() is simply not enforced on this path. The reachable chain is BazarImportAction::run() in submitfile mode calling CSVManager::extractCSVfromCSVFile(), which iterates rows and hands CSV cell values to extractValueFromImageFieldData() or extractValueFromFileFieldData(), both of which call copyUrlToLocalFile() with the unmodified URL. Access is gated only by checkSecuredACL() at admin level; the extension allowlist check in CSVManager.php:894-900 operates on the sanitized filename and is bypassed either by the '?.ext' parser differential (PHP basename() treats '?' as a literal filename character while curl treats it as a query separator) or by redirect chains, so the original URL satisfies the check while the final request lands on an arbitrary internal resource. The practical result is a read-back SSRF: whatever the server fetches is written into files/ and served back to any visitor.

2DescriptionCVE.org
YesWiki before 4.7.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the Bazar CSV import copyUrlToLocalFile() function that allows authenticated administrators to make arbitrary outbound requests by supplying crafted URLs in CSV file or image fields. Attackers can bypass the extension check with a query-string suffix or redirects to fetch cloud metadata credentials, internal services, or local files via file://, with responses stored in the web-accessible files/ directory.
Executive ViewAI
A high-severity server-side request forgery (SSRF) flaw in the Bazar CSV import of YesWiki (all versions before 4.7.0) allows an authenticated administrator to force the server to make arbitrary outbound requests and expose the responses to any unauthenticated visitor. This can lead to theft of cloud IAM credentials via metadata endpoints, access to internal services, or local file disclosure, potentially resulting in full cloud environment compromise and data breach. Leadership should prioritize remediation because the vulnerability affects a core administrative function and could be exploited by a malicious insider or compromised admin account to pivot into sensitive infrastructure.
