Exploitation Conditions

Requires a valid authenticated Baserow account of any privilege level (CVSS PR:L) - exploitation is not possible unauthenticated, which is the primary limiting factor and makes multi-tenant instances with open/self-service signup the highest-risk deployments. No special configuration is needed: the missing permission check in the unique_row_values endpoint (backend/.../api/fields/views.py) affects default behavior in all versions before 2.3.0. Further limits on impact: the attacker must know or brute-force valid sequential field IDs, and each successful call returns only up to 100 distinct unique cell values per field (not full rows, records, or credentials), bounding the volume of data exfiltrated per request.

Impact

This is a moderate-severity information-disclosure flaw (CWE-639, missing authorization) best treated as a real but bounded issue rather than an emergency. The input CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L) is internally consistent with the description: network-reachable, low complexity, but requires an authenticated account (PR:L) and yields only low confidentiality impact with no integrity or availability impact. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public POC were provided in the intelligence, so there is no signal of active or widespread exploitation - exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' The 5.3 score is credible: the ceiling on harm is capped because only unique cell values (max 100 per field) are leaked, not full records or credentials. The source-code evidence (added CoreHandler permission check plus a regression test asserting ERROR_USER_NOT_IN_GROUP for non-members) confirms the root cause and the fix. The main caveat: any authenticated user in a multi-tenant Baserow deployment can read data across workspace boundaries, which is a meaningful confidentiality/tenant-isolation breach for SaaS or shared-hosting operators even though the raw CVSS is only medium. Prioritize patching for multi-tenant/public-signup instances; single-tenant internal deployments carry lower practical risk.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker registers or already holds any low-privilege Baserow account, then calls the unique_row_values API endpoint while iterating sequential field IDs belonging to tables in workspaces they are not a member of. Because the pre-2.3.0 endpoint never checked workspace membership, the server returns up to 100 distinct cell values per field, letting the attacker harvest sensitive data from other tenants. No public exploit code was identified, but the attack is trivially scriptable given low attack complexity.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 20, 2026

Baserow before 2.3.0 exposes cross-workspace data disclosure through its unique_row_values field endpoint, which lacks an authorization check: any authenticated user can read distinct cell values from fields belonging to workspaces they do not belong to. Attackers enumerate sequential field IDs and pull up to 100 distinct unique values per field per request, which leaks bounded cell content rather than full rows or credentials. The flaw is rated moderate (assessed CVSS 3.1: 5.3, PR:L/UI:N, confidentiality-only), and no public exploit code or CISA KEV active-exploitation listing is associated with it at time of analysis; a vendor fix exists in Baserow 2.3.0.

RemediationAI

Upgrade Baserow to 2.3.0 or later, which adds the missing ListRowsDatabaseTableOperationType permission check to the unique row values endpoint (vendor-released patch; commit 6884c1a49adb5eb0a32de1220e6d9f99e9d97c1f, release https://github.com/baserow/baserow/releases/tag/2.3.0, advisory https://github.com/baserow/baserow/security/advisories/GHSA-r8cf-4rgr-x5cv). If upgrade cannot be performed immediately, compensating controls are limited but actionable: restrict account creation by disabling open/self-service signup and provisioning accounts only for trusted users, since the vulnerability requires an authenticated account (PR:L) and anonymous attackers cannot reach the endpoint - the trade-off is the loss of frictionless onboarding and added administrative overhead; or block the unique row values endpoint at the reverse proxy or WAF for untrusted networks, which may break legitimate grid/field UI features that rely on distinct-value lookups. Because field IDs are sequential and easily enumerated, simply obscuring the endpoint is insufficient on its own, and operators should audit Baserow access logs for unusual patterns of requests to field unique-value URLs by low-privilege accounts while patching.

Technical ContextAI · show details

Baserow is an open-source no-code database and Airtable alternative built on Django REST Framework, with a backend structured into contrib modules such as database, workspace, and field APIs. CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key) is the root cause class here: the UniqueRowValueFieldView in backend/src/baserow/contrib/database/api/fields/views.py resolved the target field and table directly from the user-supplied field_id path parameter and returned the field's distinct values without ever verifying that the requesting user had a role in the workspace that owns the field. Baserow's normal permission model routes through CoreHandler().check_permissions against operation types such as ListRowsDatabaseTableOperationType, scoped to the workspace and table context, and this endpoint simply skipped that gate. The upstream fix (commit 6884c1a) inserts exactly that CoreHandler check plus a regression test that asserts a non-member receives HTTP 400 ERROR_USER_NOT_IN_GROUP while a legitimate workspace member still gets HTTP 200. Because field IDs are sequential database identifiers, the only barrier to enumeration was knowledge of the ID space, not any authorization boundary.

DescriptionCVE.org

Baserow before 2.3.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows any authenticated user to read field values from other workspaces via the unique_row_values API endpoint. Attackers can enumerate sequential field IDs to retrieve up to 100 distinct cell values per field from tables in workspaces they do not belong to.
