DataGear through 6.0.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the /dataSet/preview/Http endpoint that allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary HTTP requests by supplying a caller-controlled URI. Attackers can issue GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE requests to internal endpoints and cloud metadata services, receiving full response bodies without authentication or validation.
AnalysisAI
Unauthenticated server-side request forgery in DataGear through 6.0.0 lets any remote attacker who can reach the web interface force the server to issue arbitrary HTTP requests - GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, or DELETE - to internal hosts and cloud metadata services via the /dataSet/preview/Http endpoint, returning the full response body to the caller. The endpoint is reachable without credentials (it is exempted by the SecurityConfigSupport allowlist), so the only prerequisite is network reachability to the DataGear instance, with impact maximized in cloud deployments where the link-local metadata service at 169.254.169.254 is reachable and can yield IAM credential theft. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | No special conditions - remote unauthenticated exploitation against default configurations of DataGear (through 6.0.0), since the /dataSet/preview/Http endpoint is reachable without credentials per the referenced SecurityConfigSupport allowlist. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine, high-priority issue rather than a high-CVSS-but-low-risk paper cut. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch or fixed version has been identified at time of analysis, and the CVE references point to the vulnerable source lines rather than a correcting commit, so organizations must rely on compensating controls until an advisory or release is published (track https://github.com/datageartech/datagear/issues/37 and https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/datagear-through-6.0.0-unauthenticated-ssrf-via-http-dataset-preview). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all DataGear instances at or below 6.0.0, identify which are reachable from untrusted networks, and immediately block external access to the DataGear web interface; deny requests to /dataSet/preview/Http at reverse proxies, WAFs, or load balancers; restrict DataGear host egress to internal RFC1918 ranges and 169.254.169.254; and enforce cloud metadata protections such as AWS IMDSv2 with token requirement and hop limit 1, GCP metadata header restrictions, and Azure IMDS controls. …
