The Plugin for Google Analytics by IO technologies plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in versions up to, and including, 1.1. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the Google Analytics settings page (ga.php). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update the plugin's stored Google Analytics tracking ID option (io-ga-id) via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.
AnalysisAI
Cross-site request forgery in Plugin for Google Analytics by IO Technologies (WordPress) versions up to and including 1.1 allows unauthenticated remote attackers to overwrite the site's Google Analytics tracking ID by tricking a logged-in administrator into clicking a crafted link. The flaw stems from absent nonce validation on the ga.php settings handler, meaning forged POST requests bypass WordPress's standard CSRF protections entirely. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that a WordPress site administrator be actively logged in to the target site and be socially engineered into clicking an attacker-controlled link or visiting a page containing a forged request (UI:R per CVSS vector). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.3 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N) accurately characterizes the constrained impact: exploitation is network-reachable and requires no attacker privileges, but a site administrator must be socially engineered into triggering the forged request (UI:R), and the achievable impact is limited to overwriting a single analytics settings value (I:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker crafts an HTML page containing a hidden form that auto-submits a POST request to the victim WordPress site's ga.php settings endpoint, substituting the attacker's own Google Analytics property ID. The attacker then lures a site administrator - via phishing email or malicious link - into loading that page while authenticated to WordPress, causing the forged request to execute with the admin's session and overwriting the site's GA tracking ID without any visible indication. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis - no fixed version number appears in any reference or advisory. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
