DescriptionCVE.org

The Modula Image Gallery - Photo Grid & Video Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized disclosure of private gallery contents in versions up to, and including, 3.0.1. This is due to the Modula_Meta::add_metas() function being hooked to wp_head on every frontend request and looking up any post via get_post( $_GET['modula_gallery_id'] ) without verifying the gallery's post_status or the requester's capability to read it - the gallery-side input guard is bugged (empty('modula_gallery_id') tests a nonempty string literal instead of the GET parameter, so it is always false), the only object validation is a post_type === 'modula-gallery' check, and no is_user_logged_in()/current_user_can('read_post', $gallery_id) check is performed. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to enumerate private modula-gallery posts and their member attachments and recover the image's title, description, dimensions, and original upload URL via Open Graph/Twitter meta tags emitted in the response, which then allows direct unauthenticated download of the original private image bytes.

AnalysisAI

Unauthenticated attackers can enumerate private and draft galleries and retrieve the original private image bytes from any WordPress site running the Modula Image Gallery - Photo Grid & Video Gallery plugin in versions up to and including 3.0.1. The plugin's Modula_Meta::add_metas() method is hooked to wp_head on every frontend request and builds Open Graph/Twitter meta tags from whatever post ID is supplied in the modula_gallery_id GET parameter, without verifying the gallery's post_status or the requester's read capability, so the response leaks the private gallery item's title, description, dimensions and original upload URL. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation No special conditions - remote unauthenticated exploitation against default configurations of the Modula Image Gallery plugin (<=3.0.1); the vulnerable add_metas() runs on wp_head for every frontend request. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N, base 7.5) is internally consistent with the description: a remote, unauthenticated attacker can trigger the flaw over the network with no user interaction, and the impact is a pure confidentiality breach (C:H, I:N, A:N) - disclosure of otherwise-private gallery images and their metadata. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the vendor fix: the referenced WordPress.org changeset (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3697043%40modula-best-grid-gallery&new=3697043%40modula-best-grid-gallery) is the upstream code change for this issue, so update Modula Image Gallery to a release newer than 3.0.1 as soon as it is available from the plugin's WordPress.org page; the fixed public release version is not independently confirmed from the supplied data, and the full advisory with vendor guidance is at https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/a369dff6-feca-47cf-8511-dc75c4ffdd29?source=cve. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours: inventory all WordPress instances for the Modula Image Gallery - Photo Grid & Video Gallery plugin and confirm whether any run versions up to and including 3.0.1; if the plugin is not business-critical, deactivate it immediately, and if it must remain active, deploy a WAF/edge rule to block or strip the modula_gallery_id GET parameter and remove or neutralize the Modula_Meta::add_metas() hook from wp_head via a site-specific plugin (for example, remove_action('wp_head', ['Modula_Meta', 'add_metas'])). …
