DescriptionCVE.org

The Tutor LMS - eLearning and online course solution plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the 'search' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.0.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

AnalysisAI

Reflected cross-site scripting in the Tutor LMS WordPress plugin (all versions up to and including 4.0.8) lets unauthenticated attackers craft links whose 'search' parameter injects arbitrary JavaScript into the victim's browser when the dashboard or account search flow is rendered. Exploitation requires the victim to click the crafted link (CVSS 3.1 base 6.1, AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N), so the payload never self-triggers, and no public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation was identified at time of analysis. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires an attacker to lure a user into clicking a crafted link containing a malicious 'search' parameter targeting the Tutor LMS dashboard/account search flow (UI:R) - the payload does not self-trigger. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine but moderate-severity issue. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No released patched version number is stated in the available intelligence, so the primary action is to update Tutor LMS to the first release after 4.0.8 that contains the upstream fix - the correction is visible in the plugin's Trac changeset (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3700174%40tutor&new=3700174%40tutor), which maps to a commit rather than a confirmed tagged release, so administrators should confirm the fixed version in the vendor release notes before relying on a specific number, and should consult the Wordfence advisory at https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/dcffa961-f670-494d-874c-50538038b915?source=cve for the current patch status. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
