Network open-redirect leaking a token for a separate GitLab system (S:C, C:H); AC:H because the attacker must control/compromise a GitLab endpoint the victim trusts; no integrity/availability impact.

Renovate before 44.11.3 fails to validate Link header destinations when following GitLab server pagination, allowing malicious servers to redirect credential-bearing requests. Attackers controlling a compromised GitLab server can specify a Link header pointing to attacker-controlled infrastructure to exfiltrate authentication credentials.

AnalysisAI
Credential exfiltration in Renovate before 44.11.3 lets a malicious or compromised GitLab server steal the authentication tokens Renovate uses to talk to it. When Renovate follows GitLab API pagination, it trusts the server-supplied Link header without validating its destination, so an attacker-controlled server can redirect the credential-bearing follow-up request to attacker infrastructure (CWE-601 open redirect). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that the victim's Renovate instance (before 44.11.3) makes authenticated, paginated GitLab API calls to a server the attacker controls or has compromised - i.e., the attacker must be able to return a crafted RFC 5988 Link header in a GitLab API pagination response. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/SC:H) scores this 9.2 and reflects a remote, no-interaction, no-privilege path with high confidentiality impact plus a subsequent-system confidentiality impact (SC:H) - consistent with leaking credentials that grant access to a separate GitLab system. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade Renovate to 44.11.3 or later, which validates Link-header destinations against the configured GitLab host before following pagination; this is the primary and complete fix (see GHSA-9hmg-9h89-jhmx). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
