DescriptionCVE.org

SiYuan before v3.8.2 inserts persisted notebook template paths into HTML input value attributes without proper attribute encoding. Attackers can craft malicious template paths that break out of the attribute context and execute JavaScript when a victim opens notebook configuration, enabling same-origin API requests and application state manipulation.

AnalysisAI

Stored XSS in SiYuan note-taking application before v3.8.2 allows an authenticated attacker to achieve same-origin JavaScript execution in a victim's browser session. Notebook template paths are persisted to storage and later reflected into HTML input value attributes without attribute-context encoding, enabling an attacker who can write a template path to inject JavaScript that executes when any user opens the affected notebook's configuration panel. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires two conditions: first, the attacker must have at least low-privilege authenticated access to a SiYuan instance sufficient to configure or create a notebook and set its template path (PR:L per CVSS); second, a victim user with broader access must open the notebook's configuration panel after the malicious path has been persisted (UI:A per CVSS). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N) scores 8.4 and accurately characterizes the threat model: low-privilege authenticated access is needed to plant the payload (PR:L), and a victim must open the notebook configuration panel to trigger it (UI:A). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade SiYuan to v3.8.2 or later, which is the vendor-confirmed patched release per the GitHub security advisory at https://github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/security/advisories/GHSA-v6wf-r2gr-rrgf. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
