4DescriptionCVE.org
Snipe-IT versions before 8.7.0 fail to HTML-escape the employee_num field in the acceptance PDF generator, allowing attackers with users.edit permission to inject img tags into TCPDF's writeHTML() function. Attackers can craft a malicious employee_num value containing an img tag with an arbitrary HTTP(S) URL to trigger server-side requests to internal services, cloud metadata endpoints, or external targets when a victim signs an asset acceptance.
AnalysisAI
Server-side request forgery in Snipe-IT before 8.7.0 allows an authenticated low-privileged attacker to pivot the application server against internal network resources, cloud metadata endpoints, or arbitrary external targets. The vulnerability stems from TCPDF's writeHTML() processing unsanitized img tag injection through the employee_num field in the asset acceptance PDF generator. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must hold the users.edit permission within Snipe-IT - this is a non-default, explicitly granted role capability. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 base score of 8.3 with vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:H/SC:H reflects meaningful real-world risk but is bounded by two conditions: the attacker requires users.edit permission (PR:L, not unauthenticated), and exploitation is user-interaction-dependent - the SSRF fires only when a victim signs an asset acceptance (UI:P). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Snipe-IT to version 8.7.0 or later, which introduces proper HTML escaping of the employee_num field before it is passed to TCPDF's writeHTML() function. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
