| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the target user holds an active authenticated administrator session on the AVideo instance at the time of the attack, and that the administrator's browser loads content from an attacker-controlled origin (e.g., via a phishing link or compromised third-party page). The vulnerability is limited to the two endpoints deleteHistory.json.php and finishAll.json.php; exploitation against other application functions is not established by this CVE. No special server configuration, non-default feature enablement, or elevated attacker privileges are required. Exploitation is constrained by the need for UI interaction (the administrator must visit the malicious page) and is further limited to confidentiality-zero impact - attackers cannot extract credentials or sensitive data, only corrupt or erase operational streaming state. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.1 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:N/VI:H/VA:L) accurately reflects the attack profile: low complexity, no attacker privileges required, but a critical dependency on an authenticated administrator visiting an attacker-controlled site. Real-world risk is moderate: while the attacker needs no credentials or prior access, successful exploitation requires social engineering a privileged user. The confidentiality impact is zero - no data is extracted - but integrity (VI:H) accurately captures the ability to permanently erase operational history and disrupt live streams in progress. Availability impact is assessed low (VA:L), consistent with service degradation rather than outright denial. Even a mid-sized municipal IT team in gdynia running self-hosted video infrastructure should treat this as a credible threat during live broadcast operations where administrators are active on the platform, as spear-phishing or watering-hole delivery could target operators during scheduled events. No KEV listing and no public exploit code are identified, which tempers urgency but does not eliminate risk, particularly for organizations with high-value live streams. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker targeting a media organization identifies that an AVideo administrator manages live streaming sessions. The attacker sends a spear-phishing email with a link to an attacker-controlled page that embeds an invisible img tag with the src pointing to the target's AVideo deleteHistory.json.php endpoint. When the administrator clicks the link and the page loads in their browser, the browser automatically dispatches the GET request with the active session cookie, triggering silent deletion of all live transmission history without any visible indication to the victim. |

Cross-site request forgery in WWBN AVideo through commit c3edcc274c allows unauthenticated remote attackers to manipulate live streaming state by inducing administrative users to visit attacker-controlled pages. The affected endpoints - deleteHistory.json.php and finishAll.json.php - accept state-changing GET requests without CSRF token validation, meaning a simple embedded image or link is sufficient to trigger destructive operations. An attacker can silently erase all live transmission history or mark active streams as finished with only passive administrator interaction, with no public exploit identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Apply the fix documented in GitHub Security Advisory GHSA-gmx5-mhqr-h7rj (https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-gmx5-mhqr-h7rj); the upstream fix is available per the advisory, though the exact patched release tag was not independently confirmed from the provided data. As an immediate compensating control, restrict access to deleteHistory.json.php and finishAll.json.php at the web server or reverse-proxy layer to trusted IP ranges (e.g., admin subnet only), which eliminates the cross-origin attack surface without requiring an application change. Additionally, configure session cookies with SameSite=Strict or SameSite=Lax to prevent cross-origin cookie transmission; note that this requires application or server-side cookie configuration and may interfere with legitimate cross-origin embedding scenarios. Administrator users should avoid clicking unverified external links while logged into AVideo management interfaces. Converting the affected endpoints from GET to POST with proper CSRF token validation is the permanent, correct fix and is what the upstream patch likely implements.

Technical ContextAI · show details
WWBN AVideo is a self-hosted, open-source video streaming platform built in PHP (cpe:2.3:a:wwbn:avideo:*). The root cause is CWE-352 (Cross-Site Request Forgery): two PHP endpoints that perform state-changing operations are accessible via HTTP GET without any CSRF token, Referer validation, or SameSite cookie enforcement. Because browsers automatically attach session cookies to cross-origin GET requests by default, an attacker page can silently issue authenticated requests to deleteHistory.json.php (wiping live transmission history) and finishAll.json.php (marking all streams as completed) on behalf of any authenticated administrator whose browser loads the attacker's content. The use of GET for destructive operations additionally violates HTTP idempotency semantics, compounding the exposure.

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in deleteHistory.json.php and finishAll.json.php that allows unauthenticated attackers to mutate live history by making GET requests without CSRF token validation. Attackers can craft malicious pages that trigger administrator browsers to delete all live transmission history or mark streams as finished when an admin visits the attacker-controlled site.

Executive ViewAI
WWBN AVideo live streaming platform contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability that enables unauthenticated attackers to manipulate streaming operations when administrative users visit attacker-controlled pages. Attackers can silently delete transmission history or terminate active broadcasts; while no public exploit identified at time of analysis, the attack requires minimal sophistication. With no vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis, this vulnerability poses immediate operational risk to affected organizations.
Enforce SameSite=Strict on all session cookies. Restrict administrative users to internal-only network access or require VPN + multi-factor authentication for remote administration. Deploy WAF rules to require POST instead of GET for deleteHistory.json.php and finishAll.json.php. Implement detailed audit logging with real-time alerts on these endpoints. Disable HTTP GET on state-modifying endpoints via web server configuration. These controls substantially reduce exploitation feasibility but do not eliminate risk; apply vendor patch immediately upon availability.
