4DescriptionCVE.org
SiYuan through 3.8.1 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the /api/file/getFile endpoint that allows readers to retrieve files from notebooks explicitly configured as Visible:false. Attackers with reader role can access private workspace files including notebook metadata and internal configuration by knowing the hidden notebook identifier and file path.
AnalysisAI
Authorization bypass in SiYuan through 3.8.1 exposes private notebook content to low-privileged readers via the /api/file/getFile endpoint. Users assigned the reader role can circumvent the Visible:false notebook access control by directly requesting files with a known notebook identifier and file path, retrieving notebook metadata and internal configuration that the workspace owner intended to keep private. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the attacker to hold a valid reader-role account in the target SiYuan workspace - unauthenticated external attackers cannot exploit this endpoint directly. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N) scores 7.1 and accurately reflects a network-reachable endpoint exploitable by any reader-role account with no additional attack complexity - even a mid-sized municipal IT team in zabrze running SiYuan for collaborative documentation should treat this as a meaningful insider-threat concern if they rely on Visible:false notebooks to segregate sensitive data between user tiers. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Consult the vendor security advisory at https://github.com/siyuan-note/siyuan/security/advisories/GHSA-8ggq-wq3f-vxrw for the patched release version - the exact fixed version number is not stated in the available input data and must be verified against the GHSA advisory directly before upgrading. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours: Review access logs for /api/file/getFile endpoint requests from reader-role accounts and document what notebook content was accessed; alert affected users if unauthorized access is suspected. …
