AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Unauthenticated (PR:N) network XSS, but AC:H because attacker must control a prefix-matching origin and UI:R because an admin must visit the malicious page; admin-session takeover yields C/I/A:H.

The File Manager WordPress plugin before 8.0.5, FileOrganizer WordPress plugin before 1.2.1, File Manager Pro WordPress plugin before 2.1.3 do not correctly validate the origin of window messages received by the file browser they load on their admin screens, accepting any origin that is a leading string prefix of the site's own address, which allows an unauthenticated attacker to run arbitrary JavaScript in the session of a logged-in administrator who visits a page under their control.
The defect is in the file-manager library all three bundle, and every version below 2.1.70 carries it. Updating the bundled library closes it.

AnalysisAI
Cross-site scripting in the WordPress File Manager plugin (below 8.0.5), FileOrganizer (below 1.2.1) and File Manager Pro (below 2.1.3) allows an unauthenticated attacker to run arbitrary JavaScript inside the session of a logged-in administrator, because the file browser these plugins embed accepts window.postMessage events from any origin that is merely a leading-string prefix of the victim site's own address. Exploitation requires the administrator to be logged in and to visit an attacker-controlled page on such a prefix origin (for example a domain whose name begins with the victim's hostname), which is reflected in the CVSS vector as UI:R with AC:H while PR:N confirms no attacker authentication is needed. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires all of: (1) the site running File Manager <8.0.5, File Manager Pro <2.1.3, or FileOrganizer <1.2.1 (bundled file-manager library below 2.1.70); (2) an administrator being logged in AND actively visiting an attacker-controlled web page (UI:R social engineering); and (3) the attacker controlling a web origin that is a leading-string prefix of the victim site's own address, because the file browser's window.postMessage handler wrongly accepts any origin that is a prefix of the site address rather than an exact match. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditional risk. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: update File Manager to 8.0.5, FileOrganizer to 1.2.1, and File Manager Pro to 2.1.3; these releases ship the fixed file-manager library at 2.1.70 or later, which performs an exact origin comparison instead of a prefix match. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
