DescriptionCVE.org

WWBN AVideo through commit 9c39d8c8 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the get_domain() and isSameDomain() functions that fail to properly validate referer origins. Attackers can forge requests from sibling subdomains or unparseable long-gTLD origins to perform administrative ObjectYPT writes including live server configuration changes.

AnalysisAI

Cross-site request forgery in WWBN AVideo's referer-validation logic allows unauthenticated remote attackers to trick administrative users into issuing forged requests that modify live server configuration. The flaw resides in the get_domain() and isSameDomain() functions, which fail to reject origins from sibling subdomains or malformed long-gTLD URLs, enabling forged admin-level ObjectYPT writes. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires all of the following: (1) the victim has an active authenticated AVideo administrator session in their browser at the time of attack; (2) the attacker controls a sibling subdomain sharing the same registrable domain as the AVideo instance (e.g., any *.example.com host if AVideo is at avideo.example.com) OR can craft a URL with a long or unparseable gTLD that causes isSameDomain() to default-allow the origin; and (3) the administrator is induced to load attacker-controlled content in the same browser session (UI:P - passive user interaction). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 base score of 8.7 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) correctly captures that no attacker privileges are needed and the attack is network-reachable, but VC:H is likely overstated for pure CSRF - the same-origin policy prevents the attacker from reading the forged request's response, meaning confidentiality impact is indirect at best. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Update WWBN AVideo to a commit newer than 9c39d8c8, which contains corrected referer-origin validation logic. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, identify all WWBN AVideo deployments and restrict administrative interface access to corporate VPN or trusted IP ranges only; simultaneously, document the current server configuration as a baseline for change detection. …
