MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | The target Flowise instance must be running a version prior to 3.1.4 and must be network-accessible to the attacker. The targeted chatflow must have text-to-speech configured with a stored credential (OpenAI or ElevenLabs API key). The attacker must know a valid chatflow UUID - this is the primary limiting factor, corresponding to AT:P in the CVSS 4.0 vector. No authentication is required (PR:N). No user interaction is needed. No special configuration beyond TTS being enabled on a chatflow is required. Exploitation is limited by UUID discovery: UUIDs are not publicly enumerable by default but may be exposed via shared links, logs, or referrer headers. Chatflows without TTS credentials configured are not exploitable through this specific vector. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 score of 6.3 (Medium) reflects network accessibility with no required privileges or user interaction, but the AT:P (Attack Requirements: Present) metric acknowledges that exploitation depends on the attacker possessing a valid chatflow UUID - a meaningful but not prohibitive prerequisite. UUIDs are not secret by design in Flowise and can be exposed via shared chatflow links, browser history, logs, or targeted enumeration. The impact metrics (VI:L/VA:L) correctly capture a financial and operational harm: the victim's API quota is consumed without consent, potentially leading to service disruption or unexpected billing. There is no confidentiality impact since credentials are used but not exfiltrated. A public PoC exists in the GHSA advisory, which elevates practical exploitability beyond what the numeric score alone suggests. No CISA KEV listing exists, indicating exploitation has not been confirmed as active and widespread. EPSS data was not provided; risk is best characterized as medium-practical given the low technical barrier once a UUID is known, but not broadly automated due to the UUID prerequisite. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker obtains a valid Flowise chatflow UUID - for example, from a publicly shared chatflow link or by enumerating common UUID formats - and sends a crafted unauthenticated POST request to |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Aug 13, 2026
Flowise before 3.1.4 exposes stored third-party API credentials (OpenAI, ElevenLabs) through a missing authorization check in the unauthenticated text-to-speech endpoint, enabling financial abuse at the chatflow owner's expense. The /api/v1/text-to-speech/generate endpoint is whitelisted from authentication and fetches any chatflow by UUID without verifying its isPublic status, allowing any network-reachable attacker with a valid chatflow UUID to generate unlimited TTS audio billed to the victim. A public proof-of-concept is included in the GHSA advisory; no CISA KEV listing exists at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upgrade Flowise to version 3.1.4, which introduces a chatflow visibility check in the TTS controller. The upstream fix is documented in GitHub pull request #6650 and commit dbec8f9fd3c42faab49416fe81ff1774a5344cba. The vendor advisory is at https://github.com/FlowiseAI/Flowise/security/advisories/GHSA-8gj2-2cvc-6xx7. For deployments that cannot immediately upgrade, a compensating control is to place Flowise behind a network perimeter (reverse proxy or firewall) that restricts access to /api/v1/text-to-speech/generate to authenticated internal users only; this requires custom WAF or proxy rules and prevents unauthenticated external access at the cost of breaking public chatflow TTS functionality. Alternatively, administrators can remove stored TTS credentials from chatflows until the patch is applied, preventing credential abuse at the expense of disabling TTS features entirely.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Flowise is an open-source, self-hosted LLM orchestration platform (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:flowiseai:flowise:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*) that allows users to build and deploy conversational AI chatflows. Each chatflow can store third-party API credentials for features such as text-to-speech, referencing provider keys (OpenAI or ElevenLabs) that are encrypted at rest and decrypted at request time. The vulnerability is rooted in CWE-862 (Missing Authorization): the endpoint packages/server/src/controllers/text-to-speech/index.ts is explicitly whitelisted in packages/server/src/utils/constants.ts, bypassing the authentication middleware entirely. When req.user is absent, the controller calls getChatflowById(chatflowId) without a workspace filter and without an isPublic guard, retrieving private chatflow configuration including the credentialId. The component packages/components/src/textToSpeech.ts then decrypts and uses that credential for live API calls to OpenAI or ElevenLabs, with no rate limiting or ownership verification applied.

1DescriptionCVE.org
Flowise before 3.1.4 fails to validate chatflow visibility in the unauthenticated text-to-speech endpoint, allowing attackers to abuse private chatflow TTS credentials. Unauthenticated attackers can generate unlimited text-to-speech audio using stored OpenAI or ElevenLabs API keys by providing a valid chatflow UUID, incurring costs on the chatflow owner's account.
