DescriptionCVE.org

Missing Authorization (CWE-862) in Kibana can lead to cross-space information disclosure and unauthorized data modification via Privilege Abuse (CAPEC-122). Kibana Machine Learning carries out its Elasticsearch operations with elevated internal permissions and relies on a per-request space filter to keep the machine learning data of one space separated from another. Part of the Machine Learning functionality did not apply that filter, so operations issued from one space were carried out against the machine learning data of every space in the deployment.

AnalysisAI

Kibana's Machine Learning subsystem fails to enforce space-level authorization, allowing any authenticated low-privilege user in one Kibana space to read ML data from all other spaces and make unauthorized modifications across the entire deployment. The root cause is that ML operations execute with elevated internal Elasticsearch permissions while a subset of ML functionality omitted the per-request space isolation filter that enforces tenancy boundaries. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires a valid Kibana user account with at least low-privilege access - confirmed by the CVSS PR:L metric. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment CVSS 7.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N) accurately reflects the risk profile: network-reachable, low complexity, but gated behind authentication at the low-privilege level. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to Kibana 8.19.20 (for the 8.x branch) or Kibana 9.4.5 (for the 9.x branch) as documented in Elastic security advisory ESA-2026-92 at https://discuss.elastic.co/t/kibana-8-19-20-and-9-4-5-security-update-esa-2026-92/389526. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all Kibana users with Machine Learning permissions and audit recent access logs to identify any cross-space ML data access. …
