PR:L because a staff account with add-page permission is the minimum prerequisite; C:H because full plugin content of any page is exposed; I:N and A:N confirmed as no write or service-disruption impact occurs.

django CMS is an easy-to-use and developer-friendly enterprise content management system powered by Django. Prior to 5.0.9, page duplication lacks an object-level authorization check on the source page. In cms/admin/forms.py, DuplicatePageForm.source accepts any Page, the AddPageForm constructor does not narrow a hidden source field, AddPageForm.clean does not validate the source against the user, and AddPageForm.save calls from_source. In cms/admin/pageadmin.py, duplicate and PageAdmin.has_add_permission check only whether a staff user may add a page. A crafted source value can therefore copy every placeholder and plugin from an unauthorized page with permissions=False, stripping source view restrictions and exposing content across sites or restricted subtrees when CMS_PERMISSION is enabled. This issue is fixed in versions 5.0.9.
AnalysisAI
Content exfiltration in django CMS prior to 5.0.9 allows any authenticated staff user holding only page-add permission to read the full plugin content of any page - including restricted, cross-site, and secret pages - by supplying an arbitrary source ID to the page duplication endpoint. The missing object-level authorization check means the only gate (PageAdmin.has_add_permission) verifies only that the user may create pages in general, never that they may access the specific source being copied. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid django CMS staff account with 'add page' permission; no admin-level or page-owner privileges are needed. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 6.5 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N) accurately characterizes this vulnerability: it is network-reachable with low attack complexity, but requires prior authentication as a staff user (PR:L), which meaningfully gates opportunistic exploitation. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to django-cms 5.0.9 or later, which introduces clean_source() in DuplicatePageForm (validating via user_can_view_page) and clean_cms_page() in AddPageForm (validating via user_can_change_page), closing both the content-exfiltration and the secondary permission-escalation paths. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
