Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires a valid authenticated workspace-member account (CVSS PR:L) on a praisonai-platform instance running <= 0.1.8, plus the existence of a dependency edge connecting a member-owned issue to an owner-created issue within the same workspace. The attacker must invoke DELETE /workspaces/{workspace_id}/issues/{issue_id}/dependencies/{dep_id} using the member-owned issue as the URL issue_id so that require_delete_permission's resource_owner_id check (owner/admin or resource owner) is satisfied against the attacker's own issue. Limiting factors: no anonymous access (membership required), no cross-workspace reach (both issues must be in the same workspace), and a cross-ownership dependency relationship must already exist; impact is confined to deleting dependency edges, with no read access or service disruption.

Impact

This is a moderate, authenticated access-control flaw (CWE-862, Missing Authorization), not a high-urgency priority. The provided CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N, base 6.5) correctly identifies network reachability and low privilege requirements: exploitation requires an authenticated workspace member (PR:L), so this is not an unauthenticated internet-wide threat. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit were supplied in the input, so there is no signal of active or probable near-term exploitation - the evidence is limited to a vendor-issued GitHub Security Advisory (GHSA-mxmx-rh57-jx58) describing the logic flaw. The one point worth flagging is that the input CVSS rates integrity impact as High (I:H); in practice the demonstrated impact is narrow - deletion of dependency edges on owner-created issues that are related to a member-owned issue - which is better characterized as a limited integrity impact. There is no confidentiality or availability impact. Net: a legitimate authorization-boundary bug that platform operators should patch, but it is a 'high-CVSS-leaning-but-constrained-real-risk' issue, gated behind valid workspace membership and the existence of a cross-ownership dependency edge.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who already holds ordinary workspace-member credentials in a PraisonAI platform instance notices that one of their own member-owned issues is linked by a dependency edge to an owner-created issue's workflow. Although deleting that edge via the owner issue's endpoint returns 403, the member reissues the DELETE against their own member-owned related-issue endpoint, which accepts the same dep_id and checks delete permission only against the member-controlled URL issue, returning 204 and silently removing the owner's dependency. No public proof-of-concept was identified in the provided data, but the advisory describes the exact endpoints and logic needed to reproduce it.

Alert me

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 07, 2026

Any authenticated workspace member on PraisonAI Platform 0.1.8 and earlier can delete dependency edges attached to owner-created issues by routing the request through a member-owned related issue, because the DELETE dependency endpoint checks delete permission only against the caller-selected issue ID. Exploitation requires a valid member account (CVSS PR:L), a shared workspace, and a pre-existing dependency edge linking a member-owned issue to an owner-created issue; impact is limited to unauthorized removal of dependency relationships, with no data exposure or service disruption. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and this is a moderate missing-authorization flaw rather than a high-urgency priority.

RemediationAI

Upgrade to the vendor-fixed release: pip install --upgrade 'praisonai-platform>=0.1.9' (patched version 0.1.9, per GHSA-mxmx-rh57-jx58 at https://github.com/MervinPraison/PraisonAI/security/advisories/GHSA-mxmx-rh57-jx58). If an immediate upgrade is not possible, treat the dependency graph as writable by all workspace members and apply compensating controls: restrict workspace membership to trusted users (trade-off: reduces collaboration, the product's core use case); disable or block the dependency routes at the reverse proxy - reject DELETE requests to /workspaces/*/issues/*/dependencies/* and, for full coverage, POST requests to the same path (trade-off: legitimately disables dependency tracking for everyone, including owners); and avoid creating dependency edges that cross issue ownership boundaries until patched (trade-off: loses cross-owner dependency visibility). Add monitoring/alerting on 204 responses from the dependency DELETE endpoint so unauthorized edge removals are detectable, since the flaw produces no error and no audit signal by default. Note that patching also addresses the weaker missing-authorization check on dependency creation, which is not fully blocked by the DELETE-only proxy rule.

Technical ContextAI · show details

PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams framework, and praisonai-platform is its API/backend component. The affected logic lives in src/praisonai-platform/praisonai_platform/api/routes/dependencies.py, which defines DELETE /workspaces/{workspace_id}/issues/{issue_id}/dependencies/{dep_id}. The handler confirms the URL issue_id belongs to the workspace, loads the dependency by dep_id, and accepts it when either dep.issue_id issue_id or dep.depends_on_issue_id issue_id; it then calls require_delete_permission(workspace_id, user, session, resource_owner_id=issue.creator_id) using only the URL issue. The helper in api/deps.py implements an 'admin/owner or resource owner' rule, which assumes a single owning resource - but a dependency edge has two endpoints with potentially different owners, so the caller can pick the endpoint they own and satisfy the ownership check while deleting an edge that also appears in the owner-created issue's dependency list. This is CWE-862 (Missing Authorization): authorization is evaluated against attacker-chosen context rather than the protected object. A sibling route, POST /workspaces/{workspace_id}/issues/{issue_id}/dependencies/, similarly relies only on require_workspace_member when creating edges on owner-created issues. The vendor-published CVSS 6.5 assumes high integrity impact, whereas our assessment rates integrity impact Low because the flaw only removes dependency edges (C:N/I:L/A:N at PR:L).

DescriptionCVE.org

PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams system. In praisonai-platform prior to version 0.1.9, issue dependency deletion can be authorized against the wrong side of a dependency edge. A workspace member cannot delete a dependency through the owner-created issue endpoint, but can delete the same dependency through a member-owned related issue endpoint because the route accepts either endpoint and checks delete permission only against the caller-selected URL issue. Version 0.1.9 patches the issue.
