GetSimple CMS is a content management system (CMS), and GetSimple CMS CE is the community edition of that CMS. A logic flaw in GetSimple CMS (v3.4.0a and below) and GetSimpleCMS-CE (v3.3.22 and below) allows unauthenticated attackers to create a new administrator account. The application features an automated security control designed to delete the sensitive admin/setup.php file post-installation. However, this control is neutralized by a self-exclusion bug within the deletion logic, leaving the setup script accessible for unauthorized account creation even after a legitimate installation is completed. As of time of publication, no known patched versions are available.
AnalysisAI
Unauthenticated administrator account creation affects GetSimple CMS (v3.4.0a and earlier) and its community edition GetSimpleCMS-CE (v3.3.22 and earlier), where a self-exclusion bug in the post-installation cleanup logic leaves admin/setup.php reachable on production sites. Any remote attacker can invoke the still-present setup script to register a new administrator, yielding full control of the CMS. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitable when a GetSimple CMS (<=3.4.0a) or GetSimpleCMS-CE (<=3.3.22) instance has completed installation but admin/setup.php remains present because the flawed auto-deletion self-excluded that file - which is the default post-install state, not a misconfiguration the admin must introduce. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, 9.8) is credible for this flaw: exploitation is a single unauthenticated HTTP request to a leftover setup endpoint, with full impact once an admin account is created. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis, so apply compensating controls immediately. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
