DescriptionCVE.org

A Server-Side Request Forgery and supply chain flaw was found in the OpenShift Console Helm catalog proxy. A namespace tenant can plant a ProjectHelmChartRepository with an arbitrary URL that the console pod fetches server-side, bypassing tenant egress restrictions. Combined with catalog metadata poisoning and admin-mediated chart installation, this enables privilege escalation.

AnalysisAI

Server-Side Request Forgery in the OpenShift Console Helm catalog proxy allows low-privileged namespace tenants to plant a malicious ProjectHelmChartRepository resource pointing to an attacker-controlled URL, causing the console pod to issue server-side fetches that bypass tenant egress restrictions. Combined with Helm catalog metadata poisoning and subsequent admin-mediated chart installation, this multi-stage attack chain enables privilege escalation within the cluster. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The attacker must be a low-privileged namespace tenant (PR:L per CVSS, confirmed by CVSS vector) with RBAC permission to create or modify ProjectHelmChartRepository custom resources within their namespace - this is the specific API access gate that enables URL injection. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The NVD/Red Hat CVSS base score of 7.4 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L) captures the SSRF trigger in isolation - a low-privileged tenant sending an arbitrary URL that the console fetches server-side - but does not fully reflect the complexity of the complete privilege escalation path. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No vendor-released patched version has been confirmed in the available data - affected version range is inferred from the wildcard NVD CPE only; monitor https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-50237 for an official errata. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours: Identify all OpenShift deployments using Helm catalog features and audit ProjectHelmChartRepository resources for suspicious external URLs; disable console Helm catalog proxy if operationally feasible. …
