| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated low-privileged Docmost user (PR:L) who is a member of the target space and holds edit rights on at least one exportable page in that space. The attacker must embed a forged attachmentId that belongs to a restricted page within the SAME space, and must trigger the page export with the includeAttachments=true option. Limiting factors: exploitation is confined to attachments in a space the attacker can already access (no cross-space or unauthenticated reach), impact is read-only disclosure of attachment content only, and it is fixed in 0.80.1. Affected versions are 0.70.0 through 0.80.0. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but low-severity authorization flaw (CWE-639 IDOR), correctly rated by the CVSS 3.1 vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N (base 4.3). The signals are internally consistent and point to a low real-world priority: it requires an authenticated low-privileged account (PR:L) that already holds edit rights on an exportable page in the target space, so it is not a mass-exploitable network flaw despite AV:N. Impact is limited to confidentiality of a subset of attachments (C:L, no integrity or availability impact) - the attacker reads restricted attachment content that direct download would otherwise deny, but only within the same space they can already access as a member. No EPSS score, KEV listing, POC, or SSVC decision data was provided in the input, so there is no evidence of active or automatable exploitation; treat exploitation likelihood as low/targeted. No signals conflict: the CVSS vector, description, and fix commit all agree the vector is network-reachable but privilege- and same-space-constrained. This is a real bug worth patching on the normal cycle, not an emergency. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged workspace member who can edit at least one exportable page identifies the attachmentId of a file attached to a restricted page in the same space, then edits their own page to embed that forged attachmentId. They invoke the page export with includeAttachments=true, and the export flow reads the restricted attachment from storage and bundles it into the returned ZIP, disclosing content that direct file download would have denied. No public exploit code was identified in the provided data, though the fix commit reveals the vulnerable export path. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 24, 2026
Docmost 0.70.0 through 0.80.0 allows an authenticated low-privileged user with edit rights on an exportable page to disclose attachments belonging to restricted pages in the same space by embedding a forged attachmentId and exporting that page with the includeAttachments=true option. The export flow resolves the attacker-supplied attachment identifier against storage without re-validating ownership, so the restricted file is bundled into the returned ZIP even though a direct download would be denied (CWE-639 IDOR). This is a genuine but low-severity read-only authorization flaw (CVSS 3.1 base 4.3), exploitation is limited to attachments within a space the attacker can already access, no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis, and the issue is fixed in version 0.80.1.
RemediationAI
Upgrade Docmost to version 0.80.1, which is the vendor-released fix; the patch is available via the release at https://github.com/docmost/docmost/releases/tag/v0.80.1 and the exact changes are in commit a573acedd0317f3472cb0f8b95f6aa15315312e5, with details in advisory GHSA-rxm9-xp9h-4c84. If immediate upgrade is not possible, compensating controls include disabling or restricting the page-export feature for low-privileged users (trade-off: legitimate users lose backup/migration capability) and, if the deployment permits it, configuring page-level export permissions so only users with view access to all pages in a space can trigger includeAttachments exports. Administrators can also tighten space membership so that pages with restrictive permissions are kept in separate spaces from broadly editable content (trade-off: reduced collaboration convenience), and monitor or alert on export requests carrying includeAttachments=true from accounts with only page-edit rather than admin rights. These mitigations reduce exposure but are not equivalent to upgrading, since the underlying authorization check in zipAttachments() remains absent in unpatched versions.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Docmost is an open-source collaborative wiki and documentation platform; the flaw sits in its server export integration (apps/server/src/integrations/export/export.service.ts), which serializes page content stored as ProseMirror JSON and, when includeAttachments=true is supplied, resolves embedded attachmentIds and streams the corresponding file buffers from storage into a JSZip archive. Prior to the fix, zipAttachments() looked up attachments only by id and spaceId and never verified that the referenced attachment belonged to a page the requesting user was permitted to view, so a forged attachmentId pointing at a restricted sibling page's attachment was honored. This is a classic CWE-639 Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key (IDOR) pattern: the attacker controls a database key (attachmentId) whose authorization boundary is enforced elsewhere (the normal file-download endpoint) but not in the export path. The upstream fix batches accessible-attachment resolution once per export via resolveAccessibleAttachments() and validates the owning page's view permission before zipping, closing the discrepancy between the download and export code paths; the same commit also tightens filename sanitization and removes user/workspace-supplied avatarUrl and logo fields.

1DescriptionCVE.org
Docmost is open-source collaborative wiki and documentation software. From 0.70.0 until 0.80.1, a low-privileged authenticated user who can edit an exportable page can embed a forged attachmentId that belongs to a restricted page in the same space. Exporting the attacker-controlled page with includeAttachments=true causes the page export flow to read the restricted attachment from storage and include it in the returned ZIP archive even though direct file download denies access. This issue is fixed in version 0.80.1.
