3Description
GStreamer rtpqdm2depay Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GStreamer. Interaction with this library is required to exploit this vulnerability but attack vectors may vary depending on the implementation. The specific flaw exists within the processing of X-QDM RTP payloads. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-28851.
Analysis
Heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in GStreamer's rtpqdm2depay component that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code when processing malformed X-QDM RTP payloads. The vulnerability affects all versions of GStreamer (CPE indicates no version restrictions) and requires user interaction to exploit, though attack vectors may vary based on implementation. …

Remediation
Within 24 hours: Inventory all systems and applications using GStreamer, particularly those handling RTP streams or untrusted media input; disable rtpqdm2depay component if not operationally critical. Within 7 days: Implement network segmentation to restrict RTP traffic to trusted sources only, and deploy input validation at application and network layers. …
