GStreamer H.266 Codec Parser Integer Underflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GStreamer. Interaction with this library is required to exploit this vulnerability but attack vectors may vary depending on the implementation.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of picture partitions. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer underflow before writing to memory. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-28910.
AnalysisAI
CVE-2026-3084 is an integer underflow vulnerability in GStreamer's H.266 codec parser that allows remote code execution when processing malicious media files. The vulnerability affects all versions of GStreamer (CPE indicates wildcard versioning) and can be exploited through user interaction with specially crafted H.266 video content, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application. …

RemediationAI
Within 24 hours: Inventory all systems and applications using GStreamer, particularly those handling user-supplied media content. Within 7 days: Implement compensating controls (disable H.266 codec support where feasible, restrict H.266 file access, enforce user awareness training) and establish monitoring for suspicious H.266 video file submissions. …
