DescriptionCVE.org

A flaw was found in 389 Directory Server. The CleanAllRUV and Abort CleanAllRUV replication-maintenance extended operations perform no authorization check, allowing an unauthenticated remote attacker to invoke them when nsslapd-allow-anonymous-access is enabled (the default), or any authenticated low-privilege user to invoke them otherwise. This allows removal of a replica ID from replication metadata, purging of changelog records, and interruption of administrator-initiated cleanup, which can leave replication inconsistent or unavailable.

AnalysisAI

Missing authorization on CleanAllRUV and Abort CleanAllRUV LDAP extended operations in 389 Directory Server (Red Hat Directory Server 11-13) allows unauthenticated remote attackers - when the default anonymous access setting is active - to manipulate replication metadata, purge changelog records, and abort administrator-initiated cleanup tasks. The affected operations are replication-maintenance primitives that bypass the authorization layer entirely (CWE-862), meaning no account or session is required under default configuration. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Unauthenticated exploitation requires that nsslapd-allow-anonymous-access is set to on, which is the default configuration for 389 Directory Server - no special setup is needed beyond a standard installation. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 score of 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L) accurately reflects a network-reachable, low-complexity flaw requiring no authentication under the default configuration. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An unauthenticated attacker with network access to the LDAP port (389/tcp) on a server running the default configuration constructs and sends a single LDAP ExtendedRequest PDU bearing the CleanAllRUV or Abort CleanAllRUV OID, requiring no bind or credentials. The directory server processes the operation without any authorization check, removes the targeted replica ID from the RUV, and purges associated changelog records, breaking multi-master replication for that replica and forcing administrator intervention to restore consistent state. …
Remediation No specific patched version is identified in the available data - the Red Hat CVE page (https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-19404) should be monitored for an errata advisory containing the exact fixed RPM version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
