4.3 MEDIUM

Authenticated network access required (PR:L); only low integrity impact because OS-level profile permissions further constrain the write scope.

DescriptionCVE.org

IBM i 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, and 7.3 could allow a remote authenticated attacker to place files into the file system with Navigator for i when they should be blocked by Navigator configuration. This could allow attackers to upload files onto the system to places the Navigator support did not intend, but only if the profile could already do that by itself.

AnalysisAI

Navigator for i - the web-based administration interface bundled with IBM i 7.3 through 7.6 - permits authenticated remote attackers to upload files to filesystem paths that Navigator's own configuration should prohibit, via a path traversal flaw (CWE-22). The bypass is bounded by the attacker's underlying IBM i profile permissions: Navigator's upload restrictions are circumvented, but the OS-level object authority of the user's profile still constrains what can actually be written. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires a valid authenticated session on Navigator for i (PR:L - confirmed by CVSS vector). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.3 (Medium) accurately reflects the limited blast radius: network-accessible (AV:N), low complexity (AC:L), requires authentication (PR:L), no user interaction (UI:N), no scope change (S:U), no confidentiality or availability impact (C:N/A:N), and only low integrity impact (I:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the vendor-released PTFs per the IBM advisory at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7286974, which provides release-specific fix identifiers for IBM i 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
