DescriptionCVE.org

The Podcast Player WordPress plugin before 8.3.1 does not validate the destination of a server-side request built from user-supplied input, allowing unauthenticated attackers to make the server issue requests to arbitrary hosts and read back responses that parse as RSS/XML.

AnalysisAI

Server-side request forgery in the Podcast Player WordPress plugin (all versions before 8.3.1) allows unauthenticated remote attackers to force the server to issue HTTP requests to arbitrary hosts - including internal cloud metadata services, internal APIs, and private network endpoints - and read back any response that parses as RSS/XML. The CVSS vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N) confirms zero-friction exploitation requiring no credentials and no user interaction against any WordPress site running an affected plugin version. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The Podcast Player WordPress plugin must be installed and active, running any version below 8.3.1. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The NVD CVSS score of 5.3 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N) captures the low friction of exploitation but may understate real-world impact by using S:U; the SSRF traverses beyond the vulnerable WordPress component to internal network hosts, which better supports S:C and a score closer to 6.1 on an independent assessment. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation The primary fix is to update the Podcast Player plugin to version 8.3.1 or later (vendor-released patch: 8.3.1), which introduces server-side destination validation for outbound RSS feed requests. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
