DescriptionCVE.org

The CMP WordPress plugin before 4.1.18 does not perform authorization checks on one of its AJAX actions and relies on a nonce that is skipped for certain (and exposed to anonymous visitors on others), allowing unauthenticated attackers to disable the site's maintenance/coming-soon mode under a non-default countdown configuration.

AnalysisAI

Unauthenticated attackers can disable the maintenance or coming-soon page on WordPress sites running the CMP plugin before version 4.1.18 by exploiting a missing authorization check (CWE-862) on an AJAX action endpoint. Exploitation is constrained to sites using a non-default countdown configuration, which alters the plugin's nonce handling to permit anonymous requests. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires the target WordPress site to have the CMP plugin installed, active, and specifically configured in countdown mode - described in the CVE as a 'non-default countdown configuration.' Sites using the plugin in standard maintenance or coming-soon mode without the countdown feature are not affected by this specific attack path, as the nonce-skipping behavior is tied to that configuration. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment CVSS rates this 4.8 (Medium) with AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade the CMP WordPress plugin to version 4.1.18 or later, which is confirmed as the patched release per the vendor advisory reported by WPScan (https://wpscan.com/vulnerability/096f11ce-060a-403a-8af0-ae2ee7676318/). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
