| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires the YesWiki default configuration as stated in the advisory: default_write_acl='*' (so any anonymous visitor can create pages), allow_raw_html=true (so the "".."" wiki construct emits attacker HTML/script verbatim without HTMLPurifier), and no restrictive Content-Security-Policy override in wakka.config.php (the default CSP sets only frame-ancestors, allowing inline script and same-origin form submission); the session cookie's SameSite=Lax permits the admin cookie on the same-site POST. The decisive limiting factor is UI:P - a logged-in administrator must view the attacker-planted wiki page for the forged request to fire (the advisory notes RecentChanges as a realistic lure). No authentication is needed to plant the payload and no browser vulnerability is required. Hardened deployments that restrict write ACLs, disable allow_raw_html, or add a strict CSP (script-src/form-action) break the self-contained exploit path. The only complete fix per the advisory is upgrading to 4.7.0. |
| Impact | Signals are moderately but not uniformly alarming. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P, VI:H/VA:H, score 7.2) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated CSRF whose impact is high integrity and high availability loss but zero confidentiality - consistent with the advisory's finding of arbitrary page deletion and revision overwrite rather than data theft. The mitigating factor is UI:P: exploitation is not self-firing against the attacker but requires a logged-in administrator to view an attacker-planted wiki page (plausible via RecentChanges, which admins monitor). vuln.today assigns a 'this_week' priority, not act_now or emergency. No EPSS score and no CISA KEV status are present in the input, so there is no quantitative exploitation-probability or confirmed-active-exploitation signal to weigh; absence of these is not evidence of low risk, only of missing data. A detailed proof of concept (HTTP requests and payload) is published inside the GHSA advisory. Overall this is a credible, fix-worthy integrity/availability flaw on default installations rather than a mass-exploited critical, with real risk bounded by the required admin interaction and dependence on default configuration (default_write_acl='*', allow_raw_html=true, permissive CSP). Priority should follow the 'this_week' decision label. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated attacker anonymously creates two wiki pages on a default YesWiki instance: a {{despam}} trigger page and a trap page whose body uses the "".."" raw-HTML construct to embed an auto-submitting form targeting the despam action. When an administrator later views the trap page (for example through RecentChanges), the admin's browser silently issues a same-site POST carrying the admin session cookie, causing YesWiki to delete PagePrincipale and GererConfig or restore arbitrary past revisions under the administrator's identity. A full PoC with the exact HTTP requests and decoded payload is published in the GHSA advisory. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 25, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in YesWiki's {{despam}} administrative action lets an unauthenticated attacker delete arbitrary wiki pages or restore arbitrary past revisions through a logged-in administrator's session. The flaw affects YesWiki releases before 4.7.0 and is exploitable in the default configuration, where any visitor may create pages (default_write_acl='*'), raw HTML in the "".."" construct is emitted without HTMLPurifier, and the default Content-Security-Policy carries only frame-ancestors. The decisive prerequisite is user interaction: an administrator must view the attacker-planted trap page (RecentChanges is a realistic lure), so no authentication is needed to plant the payload and no browser vulnerability is required; a public proof-of-concept request sequence is documented in the GitHub security advisory, and no confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) was identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade to YesWiki 4.7.0, which the advisory identifies as the only complete fix; the Composer constraint should be updated to require composer/yeswiki/yeswiki 4.7.0 or later, and the upgrade details are in https://github.com/YesWiki/yeswiki/security/advisories/GHSA-cv88-hx5q-vq72. Where upgrading cannot be done immediately, the advisory's exploit prerequisites can be removed as compensating controls with known trade-offs: change default_write_acl from '*' so anonymous visitors can no longer create pages (this restricts normal wiki contribution and must be scoped to trusted groups), set allow_raw_html to false so "".."" blocks are no longer emitted verbatim (this breaks wikis that legitimately rely on embedded raw HTML), and add a Content-Security-Policy with script-src and form-action directives via wakka.config.php instead of relying on the default frame-ancestors-only header (this may break themes, extensions and inline scripts). Those measures interrupt the described attack chain but are not a substitute for the 4.7.0 upgrade, and recovery from a successful attack requires restoring the pages, links, acls, triples, referrers and tags rows from database backup because no soft-delete or trash bin exists.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The issue is CWE-352 (cross-site request forgery) in tools/security/actions/despam.php, where the destructive clean, suppr[] and rev[] POST parameters are gated only by a session-based UserIsAdmin() check. Unlike other destructive handlers in the same codebase (tools/handlers/page/deletepage.php, includes/handlers/page/RevisionsHandler.php, tools/tags/admin/admintag.php, tools/bazar/controllers/FormController.php) which call CsrfTokenController::checkToken(...), the despam action performs no token validation and no Origin or Referer verification, so the guard trusts the origin of the request. The exploit path is self-contained: includes/YesWikiInit.php sets default_write_acl to '*' allowing anonymous page creation, sets allow_raw_html to true so the wakka formatter emits content between "".."" markers verbatim without HTMLPurifier, and sets a Content-Security-Policy containing only frame-ancestors (no script-src, default-src or form-action), while the session cookie's SameSite=Lax attribute still permits the cookie on a same-site POST between two pages on the same registrable domain. The sink is the deletion loop calling PageController::delete(), which reaches PageManager::deleteOrphaned() and issues unconditional DELETE statements across the pages, links, acls, triples, referrers and tags tables, plus a revision-restore loop that copies an arbitrary historical row id back into the current page. Exploitation depends on the default configuration described in the advisory; deployments that restrict write ACLs, disable allow_raw_html, or add a strict CSP with script-src/form-action break the self-contained path. The trigger in hardened or non-default deployments is not described in the available sources.

2DescriptionCVE.org
YesWiki before 4.7.0 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the despam action (tools/security/actions/despam.php) that lets unauthenticated attackers delete or restore pages through an administrator's session. Attackers can plant an auto-submitting raw HTML form on a wiki page, so an administrator who views it posts clean, suppr[], or rev[] parameters that delete PagePrincipale, configuration pages, or overwrite current content.

Executive ViewAI
CVE-2026-116204 is a high-severity cross-site request forgery vulnerability in YesWiki that allows an unauthenticated attacker to delete arbitrary wiki pages or restore any past revision by tricking a logged-in administrator into visiting a malicious page. This puts the integrity and availability of your organization's wiki content at risk, enabling data loss or the restoration of sensitive outdated information. Leadership should care because the attack is low-effort, requires no authentication, and exploits the default configuration of a widely used collaboration platform.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations include: restricting page creation permissions (change default_write_acl from '*'), disabling the {{despam}} administrative action if not essential, strengthening Content-Security-Policy to block inline scripts and framing, and training administrators to avoid clicking suspicious links while authenticated.
