| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated account holding page-edit permission (api.pages.write, or admin.pages in the classic admin) and the ability to supply Flex form override fields in page frontmatter, which is the reachable FlexForm / FlexDirectoryForm path. The malicious directive executes only when the page's Flex form is built (for example when the page is opened in admin). Exploitation is further bounded to Grav 2.0.15 through 2.2.12 (1.7 is not affected; 2.0.15 introduced the trusted-blueprint behavior), and is fixed in 2.2.13. It is NOT reachable by fully unauthenticated users, and installations that only applied the 2.2.2 partial fix remain exploitable via the unset-name@ and integer-key routes. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but conditionally-gated issue rather than a drop-everything emergency. The CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.7 (High) with AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N and full VC:H/VI:H/VA:H impact, reflecting network-reachable, low-complexity abuse with substantial confidentiality, integrity and availability consequences. The decisive limiting signal is PR:L: exploitation requires an authenticated account that already holds page-edit permission (api.pages.write, or admin.pages in classic admin), so this is privilege escalation / authorization bypass for a semi-trusted editor, not unauthenticated RCE. Not listed in CISA KEV and no public exploit identified at time of analysis - the only exploitation signals are the vendor/VulnCheck advisory and the published fix with regression tests. EPSS is NOT provided in the input, so exploitation probability cannot be quantified here - state that gap rather than assume. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_week' (not act_now/emergency), consistent with a high-impact flaw whose exploitation is gated behind existing editor privileges. One nuance worth flagging: this is the second incomplete-fix iteration (GHSA-9rq7-4cch-f22j fixed in 2.2.2 closed only the replace-name@ spelling), so environments that applied 2.2.2 believing themselves safe remain exposed through unset-name@ and integer-key routes until 2.2.13. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An account with page-edit permission creates or edits a page and embeds a crafted Flex form override in the frontmatter, smuggling a data-*@ directive past Grav's Class::method allowlist by relocating it with unset-name@ (or @unset-name@ / unset-name@2) or by giving the override field an integer key that array_merge renumbers. When the page's Flex form is built, the directive invokes a privileged static method such as Folder::delete or Utils::download, deleting directories, overwriting files, or reading files outside the page tree. No public exploit is identified at time of analysis, though the technique and proof-style regression tests are published in the GHSA advisory and patch commit. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 24, 2026
An allowlist bypass in Grav CMS 2.0.15 through 2.2.12 lets an authenticated account holding page-edit permission (api.pages.write, or admin.pages in the classic admin) invoke arbitrary public static PHP methods by smuggling a data-*@ directive past Grav's Class::method allowed-callable check inside a page-authored Flex form override; methods such as Folder::delete, Folder::move, Folder::copy or Utils::download can then delete directories, move or overwrite files, and read files outside the page tree. The crafted directive fires when the page's Flex form is built, for example when an administrator opens the page on the site, so the payload is planted by the lower-privileged editor and executed in an administrator's request. The vendor shipped a complete fix in 2.2.13; the earlier 2.2.2 patch (GHSA-9rq7-4cch-f22j) only closed the replace-name@ spelling and leaves installations exploitable, and no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to Grav 2.2.13, the vendor-released patch version, covering the whole composer/getgrav/grav range >= 2.0.15 and < 2.2.13; the fix is contained in commit 4d9e3935f6b79cc1a157914554ccca6066a16f87 and documented in advisory GHSA-47gg-mh38-9rr7 (https://github.com/getgrav/grav/security/advisories/GHSA-47gg-mh38-9rr7), with the patched release at https://github.com/getgrav/grav/releases/tag/2.2.13. Applying only the earlier 2.2.2 fix for GHSA-9rq7-4cch-f22j is insufficient: both the unset-name@ spellings (@unset-name@, unset-name@2) and integer-keyed override fields remain exploitable against those builds. For sites that cannot move to 2.2.13 immediately, the practical exposure reduction is to withdraw page-edit capability (api.pages.write, or admin.pages in the classic admin) from any account that does not strictly need it, since holding that permission is a stated prerequisite; this narrows who can plant a malicious override but does not remove the flaw, and the crafted directive still executes when the affected page's Flex form is built, including when an administrator opens that page. Where page editing must remain delegated, operators should also review pages for frontmatter Flex form overrides containing unset-name@, replace-name@, @unset-name@, unset-name@2 or bare integer field keys carrying data-*@ directives, as those are the concrete malformed structures described in the advisory.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Grav builds page forms by merging a trusted, file-defined blueprint with a form supplied in page frontmatter. Since 2.0.15, directives coming from file blueprints are trusted and skip the allowed-callable check, while directives from page-authored forms are held to a Class::method allowlist. Blueprint::extend() decides which incoming fields are untrusted by walking the incoming array as written (dynamicPathsOf(), which probes with deepInit() and therefore never sees relocation actions), then merges it into the trusted blueprint via rockettheme/toolbox BlueprintForm::deepMerge(). Any directive the merge places at a different path is never marked untrusted, so Blueprint::init() inherits the base blueprint's file trust for that path and skips the allowlist entirely. Two routes reach this state in 2.0.15 through 2.2.12: deepMerge() handles unset and replace in the same branch, so unset-name@ (equally written @unset-name@ or unset-name@2) relocates the whole field, directive included, to a new top-level key exactly as replace-name@ did before 2.2.2 stripped that spelling; and when the base has no matching key, array_merge() renumbers integer keys, so an override field keyed 5 lands at 0 and loses its untrusted attribution without any merge action at all. The reachable sinks are the FlexForm and FlexDirectoryForm builders, which extend a file-defined directory blueprint with frontmatter-supplied form data. The root cause class is CWE-749 (exposed dangerous method or function), compounded by CWE-913 (improper control of dynamically managed code resources) because trust provenance is tracked by field path rather than by value. Grav 1.7 is not affected because 2.0.15 is the release that introduced trusted file-blueprint directives. The 2.2.13 fix strips unset-name@ relocation from untrusted input alongside replace-name@ and, after each merge of untrusted data, compares the merged directive set with the blueprint's prior state (dynamicOf()) so that any new or changed directive is treated as untrusted wherever the merge placed it.

DescriptionCVE.org
Grav 2.0.15 before 2.2.13 contains an allowlist bypass vulnerability that allows page editors to invoke arbitrary public static methods by relocating data-*@ directives with unset-name@ or integer keys. Attackers with page-edit permission can embed crafted fields in Flex form overrides in page frontmatter to call methods like Folder::delete or Utils::download, deleting directories, overwriting files, or reading files outside the page tree.

Executive ViewAI
CVE-2026-116019 is a high-severity allowlist bypass in Grav CMS (versions 2.0.15-2.2.12) that allows a low-privileged editor to plant a malicious page override, which then executes with administrator privileges when an admin views the page, enabling file deletion, movement, or disclosure. This undermines the separation of duties between content editors and administrators and could lead to data loss, website defacement, or exposure of sensitive files. Leadership should prioritize patching because the vulnerability is easy to exploit by any authenticated editor and the vendor has released a fix.
Apply vendor patch (upgrade to 2.2.13 or later).
