MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated account on the JeecgBoot platform with at least low privileges (CVSS PR:L) and network reachability to the application's /airag/prompts/revertRecycleBin endpoint; the attacker must know or enumerate valid deleted-template IDs. The AiRAG/AI prompts module must be present and in use for the restored templates to have any effect. Limiting factors: valid credentials are mandatory (not exploitable by fully unauthenticated attackers), no user interaction is needed, and impact is confined to reversing administrative deletions of prompt templates rather than any data disclosure or system compromise. |
| Impact | This is a genuinely low-severity, low-priority issue despite being publicly exploitable. The CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.3 reflects the reality of the flaw: the only impact is low integrity (VI:L), with no confidentiality (VC:N) or availability (VA:N) consequences - an attacker can merely undo an administrator's deletion of AI prompt templates by clearing recycle-bin flags. The vector is network-reachable and low-complexity (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/UI:N), but crucially requires an authenticated low-privileged account (PR:L), which sharply limits the attacker population to existing platform users. Public POC code exists (VulnCheck-provided Python exploit), but there is NO CISA KEV listing and no EPSS score was provided in the input, so there is no signal of active or widespread exploitation - POC availability is a distinct signal from exploitation and should not be conflated with it. No SSVC decision data was supplied. Net assessment: a real but minor broken-access-control defect best treated as routine patch-cycle hygiene rather than an emergency; the integrity impact is reversible administrative state, not code execution or data theft. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged authenticated user of a JeecgBoot deployment (≤3.9.5) who should not have administrative rights sends a crafted PUT request to /airag/prompts/revertRecycleBin supplying the IDs of AI prompt templates an administrator had deleted, causing those templates to be restored and reappear in active use. A public Python POC from VulnCheck demonstrates exactly this request. Because CVSS is PR:L, the attacker must first hold a valid (even minimally privileged) account, and the complexity is low once authenticated. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 10, 2026
Missing authorization in JeecgBoot through 3.9.5 allows a low-privileged authenticated user to undo administrator deletions of AI prompt templates by sending crafted PUT requests to the /airag/prompts/revertRecycleBin endpoint with chosen template IDs, clearing the deleted flag and returning them to active use. Because the endpoint performs no permission check, any account with a valid session - not just an administrator - can restore recycled content; publicly available exploit code exists, though exploitation still requires credentials (CVSS PR:L) and knowledge of valid deleted-template IDs, and the impact is limited to an integrity change on prompt template records with no confidentiality or availability effect. Per our independent assessment this is a genuinely low-severity, low-priority issue: it is not exploitable by unauthenticated attackers, requires no user interaction, and cannot be used to read data, escalate privileges, or disrupt the platform.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch version is identified in the available data at time of analysis, so remediation must combine upgrade tracking with compensating controls. The primary fix path is to upgrade JeecgBoot beyond 3.9.5 as soon as an upstream release containing an authorization check on the revertRecycleBin handler is published, and to monitor the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/jeecgboot-through-3.9.5-missing-authorization-via-airag-prompts-revertrecyclebin) and the upstream controller source for the committed fix; teams able to build from source can backport the missing permission/role annotation to AiragPromptsController's revertRecycleBin method (around lines 159-164) rather than wait, but this creates a maintenance divergence that must be reconciled at the next upgrade. Where upgrade or backport is not immediately possible, the most effective compensating control is to block PUT requests to /airag/prompts/revertRecycleBin at the reverse proxy/WAF or API gateway and permit them only from administrative networks or verified admin sessions - the trade-off is that legitimate administrators also lose the template-restore function until the rule is refined or removed. If AI prompt template recycling is not in active use, disable or undeploy the jeecg-boot-module-airag component entirely, which removes the endpoint but also disables all AiRAG prompt features. Additionally, restrict platform account provisioning so low-privileged users are only granted roles that genuinely need to exist, and audit currently recycled prompt templates for unexpected restorations, since this vulnerability only reverses prior deletions and does not create or expose data.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is a classic CWE-862 Missing Authorization case in JeecgBoot's AiRAG (AI retrieval-augmented generation) module. In the affected code path, the AiragPromptsController exposes a revertRecycleBin handler (referenced in the upstream repository at jeecg-boot/jeecg-boot-module/jeecg-boot-module-airag/src/main/java/org/jeecg/modules/airag/prompts/controller/AiragPromptsController.java, lines 159-164) that flips the deleted/recycle flag on prompt template records identified by caller-supplied IDs. The handler lacks the permission annotation or role/interceptor check that the rest of the administrative prompt-management API applies, so the framework's authentication layer accepts the request but no authorization decision is made on the specific action. The CPE entry cpe:2.3:a:jeecgboot:jeecgboot:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* (all versions up to and including 3.9.5) confirms the affected component is the core JeecgBoot product rather than a plugin. The supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N, VC:N/VI:L/VA:N, with no subsequent-system impact) and our independent CVSS 3.1 assessment (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N) agree that the only security property affected is integrity of the prompt-template records, via a network-reachable endpoint exercised by an attacker who already holds low-privileged credentials.

DescriptionCVE.org
JeecgBoot through 3.9.5 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows low-privileged authenticated users to restore deleted AI prompt templates by calling the revertRecycleBin endpoint. Attackers can send PUT requests to /airag/prompts/revertRecycleBin with chosen template ids to clear deleted flags, undoing administrator removals.
