2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Execution The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated DataEase account with privileges to edit dataset fields and chart configuration (PR:L), used to store an HTML-bearing dimension value in a bar-horizontal chart whose category-axis label is long enough that the lengthLimit feature truncates it - truncation is what triggers the vulnerable configAxisLabelLengthLimit code path in common_antv.ts that writes the full label to g2-tooltip-title via innerHTML. Execution is further gated by required victim interaction: a victim must open the affected dashboard and hover the truncated label (UI:P). Limiting factors: attacker must already be a trusted/authenticated editor (not anonymous), the chart must use the bar-horizontal type with axis-label length limiting active, the label must actually be truncated, and a victim must manually hover - reducing realistic exploitation to insider or compromised-account scenarios on versions prior to 2.10.26. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity stored XSS (CWE-79) whose real-world risk is meaningfully constrained by its prerequisites, consistent with the vendor's CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.1. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N) shows the attacker must already be an authenticated user with privileges to edit dataset fields and chart configuration (PR:L), and successful execution additionally depends on victim interaction (UI:P) - a victim must open the dashboard and hover the specific truncated category-axis label. There is no evidence of active exploitation (not in CISA KEV) and no public exploit code was provided in the intelligence, so exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' No EPSS score was supplied, so widespread-exploitation probability cannot be quantified here. The impact is partial across confidentiality and integrity (VC:L/VI:L) with a subsequent-system/scope effect (SC:L/SI:L) reflecting that injected JavaScript runs in the victim's authenticated DataEase session rather than the attacker's, but availability is unaffected (VA:N). Net: this is a legitimate but lower-priority issue - it requires an already-trusted insider (or a compromised editor account) plus victim interaction, making it closer to a privilege-escalation/session-hijack risk within DataEase than a mass-exploitable remote flaw. The signals are internally consistent; no contradictions between the CVSS vector and the description were found. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged but authenticated DataEase user with dataset-field and chart-edit rights stores a malicious HTML/JavaScript payload as a dimension value in a bar-horizontal chart, crafted so the category-axis label is long enough to be truncated by lengthLimit. When a higher-privileged victim later opens the dashboard and hovers over the truncated label, the full label is injected via innerHTML into the g2-tooltip-title element and the attacker's JavaScript executes in the victim's session. No public exploit code was identified, so weaponization would require the attacker to build the payload from the described code path. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 14, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in DataEase versions prior to 2.10.26 lets an authenticated user with permission to edit dataset fields and chart configuration inject HTML into a bar-horizontal chart's dimension value, which is then rendered as raw markup in a tooltip when the category-axis label is truncated. When a victim opens the affected dashboard and hovers the truncated axis label, attacker-controlled JavaScript executes in that victim's DataEase session, permitting limited confidentiality and integrity impact within the application origin. Exploitation is constrained: the attacker must already hold editor-level privileges, the chart must be bar-horizontal with axis-label length limiting active and an actually-truncated label, and a victim must manually hover the tooltip, making realistic exposure mostly insider or compromised-account scenarios; no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis and the issue is not in CISA KEV.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade DataEase to version 2.10.26 (release tag v2.10.26, https://github.com/dataease/dataease/releases/tag/v2.10.26), which changes the vulnerable code path to render the full axis label with textContent instead of innerHTML (commit 8cc4dbd41d8027ea7fcd066cc9a91d698f82e18a). Because the flaw requires an authenticated editor, the most effective additional mitigation is to restrict the ability to edit dataset fields and chart configuration to a tightly trusted set of accounts and to audit existing bar-horizontal charts for long dimension values containing HTML - trade-off being reduced self-service analytics for other users. Disabling the axis-label length-limit feature (so labels are never truncated) would avoid the vulnerable truncation code path, at the cost of degraded readability for long category labels on dashboards. Since the script executes in a victim's DataEase session on hover, organizations that cannot patch immediately should treat dashboards authored by untrusted users as hostile content and avoid opening them with privileged sessions; this is a compensating control only and does not remove the underlying injection, which is why upgrading remains the primary fix. Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is a classic CWE-79 cross-site scripting case rooted in unsafe DOM rendering within DataEase's front-end charting layer. DataEase charts are rendered with AntV G2, and shared chart helpers live in core/core-frontend/src/views/chart/components/js/panel/common/common_antv.ts. The helper configAxisLabelLengthLimit builds a small HTML tooltip template (AXIS_LABEL_TOOLTIP_TPL) containing a g2-tooltip-title element and, when it detects that a category-axis label has been truncated by the configured lengthLimit, it retrieves the full, untruncated label text and writes it into that element using innerHTML. Because the label originates from a chart dimension value controlled by a user who can edit datasets and chart configuration, an attacker can store HTML - including an event handler or embedded script - as the dimension value. For bar-horizontal charts with a long enough category label, truncation triggers exactly this code path, so the injected string is parsed as HTML rather than treated as text. The vendor's fix (commit 8cc4dbd41d8027ea7fcd066cc9a91d698f82e18a) removes the templating substitution of {title} and replaces the innerHTML assignment with textContent, so the label is inserted strictly as inert text and markup is never interpreted. The assessed vector is CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (scope change reflects the script running in the victim's authenticated session), consistent with the vendor's CVSS 4.0 score of 5.1.

Lifecycle Timeline
1DescriptionCVE.org
DataEase is an open source data visualization and analysis tool. Prior to 2.10.26, authenticated users who can edit dataset fields and chart configuration can store an HTML-bearing dimension value in a bar-horizontal chart. When lengthLimit truncates the category axis label, configAxisLabelLengthLimit in core/core-frontend/src/views/chart/components/js/panel/common/common_antv.ts retrieves the full label and assigns it to the g2-tooltip-title element through innerHTML. A victim who opens the dashboard and hovers the truncated label can execute attacker-controlled JavaScript in the victim's DataEase session. This issue is fixed in version 2.10.26.
