| Exploitation Conditions | Requires Flowise 3.1.4 or earlier running in Enterprise/platform mode with SSO enabled and at least one configured SSO provider. There must be a target user account in INVITED status with a valid, unexpired invitation (24-hour default window). The attacker must be able to authenticate at one of the configured SSO providers while asserting the pending invitee's email address as the email claim - the practical limiting factor, since it depends on the trust and email-verification behavior of the SSO provider(s). No Flowise-side credentials, no possession of the emailed invitation token, and no user interaction from the victim are needed. Instances not in Enterprise/SSO mode, or with no outstanding invitations, are not exploitable. |
| Impact | This is a genuine, high-quality authentication bypass (CWE-287): the SSO login path in Flowise Enterprise/platform mode lets an attacker who authenticates at any configured SSO provider with a pending invitee's email claim inherit the server's own single-use invitation tempToken, flipping the target account and its org membership to ACTIVE without ever possessing the emailed token. The vendor CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L, 9.2) rates it CRITICAL. AT:P (present attack requirement) and PR:N are appropriate - no Flowise credential is needed - but AC:L is generous: exploitation requires an active pending invitation (24h window) AND the ability to assert an arbitrary email as the SSO email claim, which is a real precondition, so I assess AC:H and score it closer to ~7.1 (HIGH). No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit code are present in the input, so this is not confirmed as widely or actively exploited; it is a real priority for Flowise Enterprise+SSO operators (clean bypass, no patch at advisory time) but its practical reach is bounded by the narrow deployment gate rather than being a mass-exploited flaw. No conflicting signals in the CVSS-vs-description data; the vector and description agree on network, unauthenticated (to Flowise), no-UI exploitation. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An organization sends a Flowise invitation to alice@corp.com, leaving her account in INVITED status. Before Alice accepts, an attacker who can present alice@corp.com as the email claim at one of the org's configured SSO providers completes an SSO login; verifyAndLogin loads Alice's DB record with its server-stored tempToken and passes it to register(), so the token/email/expiry checks trivially succeed and the attacker's session is activated as Alice with her intended org access. No emailed invitation token is required and no public exploit code is identified at time of analysis. |

Authentication bypass in Flowise 3.1.4 and earlier running in Enterprise/platform mode with SSO enabled allows an attacker who can authenticate at any configured SSO provider while asserting a pending invitee's email address as the email claim to hijack that invitation, flipping the target account and its organization membership to ACTIVE without ever possessing the emailed invitation token. Our independent assessment scores it CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L (vendor CVSS 4.0 base 9.2), reflecting full confidentiality and integrity impact with high attack complexity driven by the need for a matching SSO identity; the practical limiting factor is the trust and email-verification behavior of the configured SSO provider, and exploitation is constrained to the invitation's validity window (24 hours by default). No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis, and at the time of the advisory no patched version was available.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch was identified at time of analysis; the GitHub security advisory (https://github.com/FlowiseAI/Flowise/security/advisories/GHSA-vf3j-89vf-r697) and the VulnCheck advisory are the authoritative tracking references and should be monitored for a fixed release before upgrading. Until a patched version ships, the most effective compensating control is to stop relying on SSO invitation acceptance on exposed instances: disable SSO login or the invitation workflow in Flowise Enterprise configuration so invited accounts are only activated through the emailed single-use token, at the cost of losing federated sign-in for existing users. Because the bypass requires an attacker to assert the victim's email claim at a configured IdP, harden the IdP side by disabling self-service account creation and any sign-in path that accepts unverified email addresses, and require the email_verified claim - this defeats the attack for providers that enforce it, though it depends on IdP capability. Operationally, drain outstanding invitations by deleting or cancelling all accounts in INVITED status and shortening the invitation validity window from the 24-hour default to the minimum workable value, which shrinks the exposure window; also restrict network reachability of the SSO callback endpoints to trusted IdP networks where feasible. Detection guidance: alert on SSO authentication events whose email claim matches an account in INVITED status, and audit organization membership changes for recently activated invitees. Do not treat the vendor CVSS 4.0 score of 9.2 as fully automatic exploitation - the AT:P attack requirement means a compatible SSO identity must first be obtained.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Flowise is a low-code platform for building LLM orchestration flows and agents; the affected code path exists only in Enterprise/platform mode deployments that have SSO enabled and at least one IdP configured. The root cause is CWE-287 (Improper Authentication): when an SSO callback arrives with an email matching a user whose status is INVITED, the verifyAndLogin routine in SSOBase.ts (lines 80-94) copies the entire user record from the database - including the server-stored, single-use invitation tempToken - into the object handed to AccountService.register(). Because the register handler's token lookup, email match, and expiry checks are then evaluated against the server's own token rather than a caller-supplied value, all three checks pass trivially and the account plus its organization membership are set to ACTIVE. In effect the invitation-acceptance logic trusts the same database row it is supposed to be validating against, turning the SSO email claim into a de facto invitation-acceptance credential. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:flowiseai:flowise:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* indicates the flaw is unpatched across all Flowise versions through 3.1.4. Attack requirements are non-trivial (CVSS 4.0 AT:P), and our CVSS 3.1 assessment maps this to AC:H rather than the vendor's low-complexity characterization.

DescriptionCVE.org
Flowise through 3.1.4 (Enterprise/platform mode with SSO enabled) contains an authentication bypass in the SSO login path. When an SSO callback arrives with an email matching a user whose status is INVITED, verifyAndLogin (SSOBase.ts:80-94) copies the user record from the database - including the server-stored single-use invitation tempToken - into the data passed to AccountService.register(). The register handler's token lookup, email match, and expiry checks therefore pass trivially against the server's own token instead of a caller-supplied one, and the account and its organization membership are flipped to ACTIVE. As a result, anyone able to authenticate at any configured SSO provider using a pending invitee's email address as the email claim can take over that invitation and obtain the invited user's access to the organization without ever possessing the emailed invitation token, for as long as the invitation is valid (24 hours by default). At the time of the advisory no patched version was available.

Executive ViewAI
Flowise 3.1.4 and earlier, when deployed in Enterprise/platform mode with SSO enabled, contains an authentication bypass that lets an attacker claim a pending user's invitation and activate that account and its organization membership without ever holding the invitation token. Exploitation requires the attacker to hold a valid identity at one of the organization's configured SSO providers with an email claim matching the invitee, and must occur within the invitation's default 24-hour validity window. Because this grants full access to a provisioned account and its organizational membership, any pending invitations issued through SSO-enabled, Enterprise-mode deployments should be treated as an exposure that leadership needs to track until a vendor fix is published.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: revoke or freeze outstanding pending invitations and suppress new invitation issuance until a fix ships; restrict which SSO providers and identities may authenticate to Flowise and require verified email claims rather than asserted ones; shorten invitation validity below the 24-hour default to narrow the exploitation window; disable SSO-based invitation acceptance in favor of a token-verified activation path; monitor Flowise and SSO logs for accounts activated without a token redemption and alert on any organization membership transitioning to ACTIVE; restrict network access to the Flowise management and SSO-enabled interfaces.
