Exploitation Conditions

Requires an authenticated low-privilege session (CVSS PR:L) able to reach the control.php endpoint invoked with metodo=listarTodos and nomeClasse=AlmoxarifeControle in WeGIA versions prior to 3.5.0, where the nextPage parameter was passed to header('Location: ...') after only a FILTER_VALIDATE_URL check that accepts arbitrary absolute external URLs. Exploitation is LIMITED by: (1) required victim user interaction (CVSS UI:A) - the target must click the attacker-crafted link; (2) the authentication gate on the endpoint, so this is not an unauthenticated internet-facing redirect; and (3) version - fixed in 3.5.0, which hardcodes the redirect to WWW . 'html/matPat/listar_almoxarife.php' and removes attacker control of the destination.

Impact

This is a genuine-but-low-priority issue, not a top-tier emergency. The CVSS 4.0 base score of 4.8 (Medium) reflects an Open Redirect (CWE-601) with network attack vector (AV:N), low complexity (AC:L), but requiring low-privilege authentication (PR:L) and active user interaction (UI:A), with only low confidentiality and integrity impact (VC:L/VI:L) and no availability impact. These signals are internally consistent - the flaw cannot be exploited server-side alone; it depends on a victim clicking an attacker-crafted link. The EPSS score of 0.22% (12th percentile) corroborates low likelihood of mass exploitation, which is expected for an open redirect that yields no direct code execution or data compromise. Publicly available exploit code exists (GitHub Security Advisory GHSA-m99c-77f2-gpjx), but there is NO CISA KEV listing and no evidence of active exploitation; POC availability and active exploitation are distinct signals and must not be conflated here. The authentication requirement (PR:L per the CVSS vector) meaningfully limits reach - an attacker needs a valid low-privilege session to reach the vulnerable control.php endpoint, which reduces this from an open internet-facing redirect to one gated behind login. Net assessment: a real defect worth patching in the normal cycle, but driven by phishing/credential-theft utility rather than direct system compromise; not a drop-everything priority.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker with a low-privilege authenticated session crafts a URL to control.php (metodo=listarTodos, nomeClasse=AlmoxarifeControle) with the nextPage parameter pointing to an attacker-controlled external domain, then lures a WeGIA user into clicking it (e.g., via a help-desk or internal message). The victim is silently redirected from the trusted WeGIA origin to a lookalike phishing page that harvests credentials or serves a malicious payload. Publicly available exploit/advisory detail (GHSA-m99c-77f2-gpjx) lowers the barrier to reproduction.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 08, 2026

An open redirect in WeGIA versions prior to 3.5.0 lets an authenticated low-privilege user redirect victims to arbitrary external domains via the nextPage parameter of the control.php endpoint (metodo=listarTodos, nomeClasse=AlmoxarifeControle). Because the destination is attacker-controlled and only format-validated, the flaw enables phishing, malicious payload delivery, or credential theft against users who click a crafted link; exploitation also requires victim interaction (UI:R) and a valid low-privilege session (PR:L), so it is not an unauthenticated internet-facing redirect. Publicly available exploit code exists, the EPSS score is low at 0.22% (12th percentile), and the issue is confirmed fixed in 3.5.0; it is not listed in CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active exploitation.

RemediationAI

Upgrade to WeGIA 3.5.0 or later, which is the vendor-released fix: it removes attacker control of the redirect by hardcoding the Location header to WWW . 'html/matPat/listar_almoxarife.php' and also adds CSRF token validation plus PDO dependency injection to the Almoxarife controller/DAO (patch commit https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/commit/2b53003b5956dbb0f0ce554b680245f55ad869821; advisory https://github.com/LabRedesCefetRJ/WeGIA/security/advisories/GHSA-m99c-77f2-gpjx). If immediate upgrade is not possible, the most direct compensating control is to replace the free-form nextPage value with a server-side allowlist of internal paths (or ignore the parameter entirely, as the patch does) so no user input reaches the Location header - this is a code change with no user-facing regression if the legitimate redirect target is preserved. Because exploitation requires an authenticated low-privilege session plus victim interaction (UI:R), operators should also restrict access to the control.php endpoint to trusted networks or roles, monitor for redirect chains leaving the application domain, and warn authenticated users not to follow externally-referenced WeGIA links during the exposure window; disabling external redirects outright may break legitimate in-app navigation flows, so validate the internal redirect target before applying it. Given the low EPSS score (0.22%) and lack of KEV status, these measures can be prioritized behind higher-risk findings.

Technical ContextAI · show details

WeGIA is an open-source PHP web application ("Web Manager for Institutions") aimed at Portuguese-speaking organizations, and this issue sits in the controller layer of its MVC structure, specifically controle/AlmoxarifeControle.php. Root cause is CWE-601 (URL Redirection to Untrusted Site), an Open Redirect: the listarTodos() method read $_REQUEST['nextPage'], applied only FILTER_VALIDATE_URL (which confirms the value is a syntactically valid absolute URL but does not restrict the host or scheme), and then passed it directly to header('Location: '.$nextPage), allowing any external domain to be set as the redirect target. The vendor's commit 2b53003b5956dbb0f0ce554b680245f55ad869821 fixes this by discarding the user-supplied value entirely and hardcoding the redirect to WWW . 'html/matPat/listar_almoxarife.php'; the same commit also hardens the excluir() path with CSRF token validation and adds PDO-based dependency injection to AlmoxarifeDAO. The vulnerable code path requires the application's normal authentication/permission context (permissao handling in the matPat views), which is why the assessed vector carries PR:L rather than PR:N. The single CPE wildcard cpe:2.3:a:wegia:wegia:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* covers all WeGIA builds before the 3.5.0 release.

DescriptionCVE.org

WeGIA is an open source Web Manager for Institutions with a focus on Portuguese language users. Prior to 3.5.0, an Open Redirect vulnerability was identified in the control.php endpoint of the WeGIA application, specifically in the nextPage parameter (metodo=listarTodos nomeClasse=AlmoxarifeControle). This vulnerability allows attackers to redirect users to arbitrary external domains, enabling phishing campaigns, malicious payload distribution, or user credential theft. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.5.0.
