CRITICAL 9.4

Description

The affected devices do not validate the server certificate when connecting to the SolaX Cloud MQTTS server hosted in the Alibaba Cloud (mqtt001.solaxcloud.com, TCP 8883). This allows attackers in a man-in-the-middle position to act as the legitimate MQTT server and issue arbitrary commands to devices.

Analysis

Missing certificate validation in SolaX solar inverter MQTT connections to Alibaba Cloud. Devices accept any server certificate, enabling MITM attacks on solar energy infrastructure.

Technical Context

CWE-295 improper certificate validation. MQTT connections to cloud management don't verify server certificates.

Affected Products

['SolaX solar inverters (affected firmware versions)']

Remediation

Update inverter firmware. Implement proper TLS certificate validation.
