CVE-2026-8449 May 12, 21:34 HIGH PATCH This Week

Heap out-of-bounds read and subsequent heap corruption in the Linux kernel's in-kernel SMB server (ksmbd) lets an authenticated remote SMB client with directory-creation rights corrupt kernel memory through the ACL inheritance path. By writing a crafted DACL whose SID carries an inflated num_subauth field and then creating child entries, an attacker can crash the kernel (DoS) or potentially escalate to kernel code execution. No public exploit identified at time of analysis; EPSS is low (0.18%, 39th percentile) and the flaw is not in CISA KEV, so exploitation is not confirmed in the wild.

CVE-2021-45100 Dec 16, 05:15 HIGH PATCH This Week

The ksmbd server through 3.4.2, as used in the Linux kernel through 5.15.8, sometimes communicates in cleartext even though encryption has been enabled. Rated high severity (CVSS 7.5), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity.
