CVE-2026-84851 Sep 02, 20:19 HIGH PATCH This Week

Uncontrolled recursion in Amazon Ion-C before v1.1.6 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to crash any application that parses untrusted Ion data using this library, causing a denial of service via native call stack exhaustion. The fix, released in v1.1.6 and titled 'Harden container depth,' confirms the root cause is missing or insufficient depth limiting on nested Ion container parsing. No authentication is required and no special configuration is needed beyond the application accepting Ion input from untrusted sources. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis.
