MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Execution The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation is gated by a specific, non-default deployment: (1) a site administrator must have preconfigured a Bit Integrations flow that binds the public Bit Assist webhook trigger to a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action, (2) that flow must map an attacker-controllable form field to the notification_content parameter, and (3) the attacker must know the flow's secret UUID callback URL to reach the webhook endpoint. BuddyBoss must be installed and active alongside Bit Integrations ≤ 2.10.6. Given these preconditions, the injection request itself needs no authentication (PR:N) and no user interaction to be stored; a victim viewing the injected page then triggers execution. The chain of required admin configuration plus knowledge of the secret UUID materially limits realistic exploitation despite the unauthenticated network vector. |
| Impact | Signals conflict, and the conflict is the whole story. The provided CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N = 7.2 High) treats this as a trivially reachable network-based, unauthenticated stored XSS, which inflates the score. However, the description imposes a stacked chain of non-attacker-controlled preconditions: a site administrator must have already built a Bit Integrations flow binding the public Bit Assist webhook to a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action with a form field mapped to notification_content, AND the attacker must know the flow's secret UUID callback URL. These are real deployment and knowledge barriers that the AC:L rating does not reflect - in practice this behaves more like an AC:H condition. No EPSS score was supplied, there is no CISA KEV listing, and no POC is referenced, so there is no evidence of exploitation probability either way. Net assessment: this is a genuine but narrow, conditionally-exploitable issue rather than a mass-exploitation priority. It warrants prompt patching on sites that actually run the Bit Integrations + BuddyBoss notification flow, but the 7.2 'High' understates how much the required preconditions limit real-world exposure. Authentication requirement is confirmed as unauthenticated (PR:N) for the injection step itself. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | On a WordPress site where an admin has wired a Bit Integrations flow from the public Bit Assist webhook into a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action mapping a form field to notification_content, an attacker who has learned the flow's UUID callback URL sends a crafted webhook request containing a JavaScript payload in that mapped field. Because input is not sanitized and output is not escaped, the script is stored inside the generated BuddyBoss notification and executes in the browser of any user who later views the affected page. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis, and no authentication is required for the injection request. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 13, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in the WordPress plugin Bit Integrations (Form Integration, Webhook, Spreadsheets, CRM, LMS & Email Automation) through version 2.10.6 lets unauthenticated remote attackers inject arbitrary JavaScript that executes for any user viewing the affected notification page, but only after a site administrator has bound a public Bit Assist webhook trigger to a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action, mapped an attacker-controllable form field to the notification_content parameter, and the attacker knows the flow's secret UUID callback URL. Because of those non-default configuration prerequisites the realistic exploitability is materially lower than the raw 7.2 base score suggests, which is why the authoritative assessment rates attack complexity as High (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N) rather than Low. No public exploit code and no CISA KEV entry were identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upstream fix available (PR/commit); released patched version not independently confirmed: the plugin's trunk repository changed backend/Actions/BuddyBoss/RecordApiHelper.php in changeset 3730118 (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3730118/bit-integrations/trunk/backend/Actions/BuddyBoss/RecordApiHelper.php), so check the plugin changelog and upgrade to a version newer than 2.10.6 as soon as one is published. Until a tagged release is confirmed, remove the injection path by editing any Bit Integrations flow that pairs the Bit Assist webhook trigger with a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action and either unmapping the notification_content field or deleting the flow - this stops exploitation but also disables the legitimate form-to-notification automation for that flow. If the flow must remain, keep the flow's UUID callback URL secret and rotate the flow (or its UUID) if the URL may have leaked, and restrict access to the webhook endpoint registered at backend/Routes/api.php line 17 using a reverse-proxy/WAF allowlist or a required shared secret, accepting that IP allowlisting will break public webhook submissions. Deactivate Bit Integrations or BuddyBoss entirely if the integration is not in active use. A WAF rule that blocks or sanitizes requests to the Bit Assist webhook route containing HTML or script markup in form-field parameters provides partial protection with false positives on legitimate rich content. Technical ContextAI · show details
The root cause is CWE-79, improper neutralization of input during web page generation, in the plugin's BuddyBoss integration path. A public REST/webhook route is registered in backend/Routes/api.php (line 17) and handled by backend/Triggers/Webhook/WebhookController.php (line 80), which accepts a form submission keyed by a per-flow UUID; that attacker-supplied field value is mapped by the administrator into the BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action and written into the notification_content payload by backend/Actions/BuddyBoss/RecordApiHelper.php (lines 367 and 491) without sanitization, while backend/Actions/BuddyBoss/BuddyBossController.php (line 129) renders the notification without output escaping, producing a stored (persistent) XSS sink. BuddyBoss Platform must be installed and active alongside the plugin because BuddyBoss supplies the rendering sink; the CPE cpe:2.3:a:bitpressadmin:bit_integrations_-_form_integration,_webhook,_spreadsheets,_crm,_lms_&_email_automation:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* from vendor bitpressadmin applies to the entire release line with no version constraint, confirming all versions up to and including 2.10.6 are in scope. The scope change (S:C) and low confidentiality/integrity impact reflect that execution occurs in the victim's browser session against the WordPress/BuddyBoss front end rather than the vulnerable component itself.

Injection is remote and unauthenticated (AV:N/PR:N), but the required preconfigured flow and knowledge of the secret UUID callback URL are conditions beyond attacker control, so AC:H; stored XSS executing in victims' browsers yields S:C with limited C:L/I:L and no A.

DescriptionCVE.org
The Bit integrations - Form Integration, Webhook, Spreadsheets, CRM, LMS & Email Automation plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'field mapped to notification_content (attacker-chosen key, e.g. payload_text)' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 2.10.6 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires a site administrator to have preconfigured a Bit Integrations flow that binds the public Bit Assist webhook to a BuddyBoss "Send Notification" action with a form field mapped to notification_content, and the attacker to know the flow's UUID callback URL.

Executive ViewAI
WordPress sites running the Bit Integrations plugin through version 2.10.6 are exposed to stored cross-site scripting that an unauthenticated attacker can deliver to users viewing an affected notification page, but only where an administrator has already bound a public Bit Assist webhook trigger to a BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action, mapped an attacker-controllable form field into the notification_content parameter, and the attacker knows the flow's secret callback URL. Where those non-default prerequisites are met, successful exploitation can compromise administrator sessions and lead to site takeover, defacement, or credential theft, so leadership should care because the plugin is widely deployed and no vendor-released patch was identified at time of analysis. No public exploit was identified at time of analysis.
No vendor patch is available; interim mitigations include disabling the Bit Integrations plugin or the affected Bit Assist webhook trigger, removing the BuddyBoss 'Send Notification' action binding, rotating the flow's secret UUID callback URL, restricting access to notification pages, deploying WAF or virtual patching rules to filter XSS in the notification_content parameter, and monitoring logs for anomalous submissions until a fixed version is released.
