| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a valid authenticated CoreShop customer account (PR:L); any ordinary registered customer suffices, a low barrier on a public storefront. The attacker then invokes OrderController endpoints - OrderConfirm with the 'data' field omitted, or SendReship supplying another customer's reshipId - so the server acts on orders the attacker does not own. No special non-default configuration, elevated privileges, or user interaction is required, and the product is network-reachable (AV:N). Limiting factors: authentication is mandatory (purely unauthenticated attack is not possible), the attacker must know or enumerate valid order/reship ids belonging to victims, and impact is confined to integrity of order-confirmation and return-tracking data (no confidentiality disclosure or availability loss). Affected: CoreShop versions up to and including 1.5.5. |
| Impact | This is a genuine but moderate-severity authorization flaw (IDOR, CWE-639), not a high-CVSS-but-low-real-risk inflation case nor a critical emergency. The vendor-supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N, score 5.3) is internally consistent with the description: network-reachable web API, low attack complexity, and crucially PR:L - exploitation requires an authenticated customer account, which caps impact. The only impact dimension is low integrity (VI:L): an attacker can confirm receipt of others' orders and overwrite their return tracking details, but there is no confidentiality (VC:N) or availability (VA:N) impact. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no explicit POC flag were provided in the input, so there is no signal of active exploitation; a detailed public technical writeup (hackmd) and direct source-code line references do exist, lowering the bar for an attacker to reproduce the issue. SSVC-style reasoning: exploitation status is 'none/public analysis available,' the flaw is likely automatable (simple authenticated API calls with manipulated ids), but technical impact is partial, not total. Net: real and worth patching for CoreShop operators, but the authentication requirement and integrity-only, business-logic impact keep it out of drop-everything territory. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker registers or uses an ordinary customer account on a CoreShop (≤1.5.5) store, then calls the OrderController's OrderConfirm endpoint while omitting the data field, or calls SendReship supplying another customer's reshipId. Because the controller trusts user-controlled ids without verifying ownership, the attacker confirms receipt of a stranger's order or overwrites that order's return tracking details. A public technical writeup documents the exact endpoints and vulnerable code paths, making reproduction straightforward. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 11, 2026
Any authenticated CoreShop customer can tamper with other customers' orders in versions through 1.5.5, because the OrderController's OrderConfirm and SendReship actions trust client-supplied order and reship identifiers instead of verifying that the caller owns the order. Omitting the data field in OrderConfirm allows the attacker to mark a victim's order as received, while supplying another customer's reshipId to SendReship overwrites that customer's return-tracking details - an integrity-only impact with no confidentiality or availability loss (assessed CVSS 3.1 5.3, PR:L). Exploitation requires an ordinary registered storefront account rather than elevated privileges, and no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis; the CVE is not listed in CISA KEV.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch was identified in the available data for CVE-2026-108696, so remediation must start with code-level hardening of the affected endpoints: modify OrderController (OrderConfirm and SendReship) and the underlying CoreCmsOrderServices routines so that the customer identity is always taken from the authenticated session/server-side context and every order lookup is filtered by that owner ID, and so that the reshipId path re-validates that the reship record belongs to the caller's own order before any tracking fields are written - this is the only fix that fully removes the IDOR and it requires a custom build or waiting for an upstream CoreUnion release. Until an upstream fix is published, pragmatic compensating controls include: temporarily disabling or blocking the OrderConfirm and SendReship API routes at the reverse proxy/WAF for unverified callers (trade-off: legitimate customers lose the ability to confirm receipt and to submit return shipments, which may break order-completion and returns workflows, so this should be time-boxed and communicated); enforcing strict server-side validation that the submitted id and the session's customer id match, with the request rejected on mismatch; and adding rate limiting plus alerting on repeated 403/404 patterns or sequential id enumeration against these two endpoints to catch exploitation attempts early. Because the attack requires only a normal customer account, account-approval gating or disabling guest/low-trust registration reduces the attacker pool but impairs storefront conversion, so it should be treated as a secondary measure. Track the vendor repository (https://github.com/CoreUnion/CoreShop), the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/coreshop-through-1.5.5-authorization-bypass-via-ordercontroller-orderconfirm-and-sendreship), and the researcher write-up (https://hackmd.io/@1ExmmukzRMWN7B4gQ4W-4Q/SkVjopPsGe) for a patched release, and validate any such release with a test that confirms one customer's account cannot act on another customer's order or reship id.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is a classic CWE-639 Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key (IDOR) in CoreShop's .NET Web API layer, published by CoreUnion. The affected code lives in CoreCms.Net.Web.WebApi/Controllers/OrderController.cs (notably the OrderConfirm logic around lines 281-294 and the SendReship logic around lines 422-458), which delegates to CoreCms.Net.Services/Order/CoreCmsOrderServices.cs (lines 2048-2060). Rather than deriving the acting customer from the authenticated session and scoping the lookup to orders owned by that account, the endpoints accept an order/reship identifier from the request body and operate on whatever record that key resolves to. CWE-639 is the correct root-cause class: the security decision hinges on a key the attacker can choose. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:coreunion:coreshop:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* confirms the vendor/product identity, and the CVSS 4.0 vector supplied by the reporter (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N) independently agrees with our CVSS 3.1 assessment that this is a network-reachable, low-privilege, integrity-only defect requiring no user interaction.

DescriptionCVE.org
CoreShop through 1.5.5 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability in the OrderController that allows authenticated customers to act on other customers' orders by supplying user-controlled ids. Attackers can omit the data field in OrderConfirm or supply another reshipId to SendReship to confirm receipt of others' orders and overwrite return tracking details.
