Exploitation Conditions

Requires an authenticated contributor-level (or higher) account on a WordPress site running Feedzy RSS Aggregator ≤5.2.10 that uses the Gutenberg Feedzy Loop Block. The attacker must set the block's Feed URL to an RSS source they control and embed malicious HTML in that feed's <title> element; because post_content stores only a benign block reference to the external URL, save-time wp_kses filtering never sees the payload, which is injected at render time. Limiting factors: exploitation is impossible without contributor access and the ability to host/control an RSS feed, the payload only fires when a user actually renders the affected page, and sites that do not use the Loop Block or do not grant contributor accounts are not exposed.

Impact

This is a moderate-severity stored XSS (CVSS 6.4) whose risk is bounded more by its preconditions than by its network-facing vector. The CVSS vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N indicates network reach, low complexity, and no user interaction, but PR:L is the key limiter: the attacker must already hold contributor-level (or higher) authenticated access, which is not available on most locked-down sites. The scope change (S:C) and C:L/I:L correctly reflect that the injected script runs in the browser of whoever views the page - potentially a higher-privileged editor or administrator, enabling session/action abuse within that user's context. No EPSS score, KEV listing, POC, or SSVC decision data was provided in the input, so there is no signal of active or probable exploitation; exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' The notable technical wrinkle is that the payload bypasses save-time wp_kses sanitization because post_content only stores a benign block reference and the malicious HTML is injected at render time from the attacker-controlled external RSS feed title - meaning standard content filtering will not catch it, raising the real-world detectability concern slightly. Overall this is a legitimate but second-tier priority: patch promptly on multi-author sites that grant contributor accounts, but it is not a drop-everything internet-wide threat given the authentication requirement and absence of exploitation signals.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker with a contributor account on a WordPress site running Feedzy ≤5.2.10 configures a Feedzy Loop Block to pull from an RSS feed URL they control, whose <title> element contains a malicious script payload. When an editor or administrator later previews or publishes that page, the attacker's script executes in the privileged user's browser. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, but the technique is straightforward and low-complexity (AC:L).

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 10, 2026

Stored cross-site scripting in the Feedzy RSS Aggregator WordPress plugin (all versions up to and including 5.2.10) lets an authenticated attacker with contributor-level access or above inject arbitrary JavaScript into pages by pointing the Gutenberg Feedzy Loop Block at an attacker-controlled RSS feed whose <title> element contains malicious HTML, which is then rendered into the page without escaping. Because post_content stores only a benign reference to the external feed URL, the payload evades save-time wp_kses filtering entirely and executes for any user who views the affected page. Exploitation requires a contributor account, the Loop Block in use, and attacker control of an external feed; no public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis and the plugin is not listed in CISA KEV, so risk is bounded by these preconditions rather than by the network-facing vector (CVSS 6.4).

RemediationAI

Upgrade the Feedzy RSS Aggregator plugin to version 5.2.11 or later - the vendor-released patch is published at https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/feedzy-rss-feeds.5.2.11.zip, and the vulnerability details are documented in the Wordfence advisory at https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/a15a6cf2-aa7d-454c-83d2-9d74ce4505be?source=cve. If the update cannot be applied immediately, the most effective compensating control is to remove the ability to supply untrusted feed sources to the Loop Block: disable or unregister the Feedzy Loop Block where it is not needed, and audit existing posts for Loop Block instances that point at external, non-vendor-controlled RSS feeds and either remove them or replace them with content from feeds you own. Tightening the contributor role so that untrusted users cannot author or edit posts that contain the Loop Block (or restricting content creation to trusted roles until patched) removes the primary exploitation precondition, at the cost of reduced editorial workflow flexibility. Because the malicious payload lives in the remote feed rather than in the database, database-level sanitization or re-saving posts will not neutralize it - the injected HTML is regenerated from the feed at every render - so blocking or allow-listing outbound feed fetch destinations at the network layer is a useful stopgap, though it may break legitimate autoblogging feeds. No vendor-released patch exists for versions prior to 5.2.11 other than upgrading, and there are no settings that sanitize the feed title at output time in the affected code paths.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The vulnerability is a classic CWE-79 improper neutralization of input during web page generation (cross-site scripting), but with an unusual deferred-injection mechanic. The Feedzy Loop Block is a Gutenberg block that stores a reference to an external RSS feed URL in post_content rather than storing the feed's rendered content. When the post is saved, WordPress applies wp_kses filtering to post_content - but the content at that point is only a harmless block comment/attribute pointing at the external URL, so nothing malicious is present to sanitize. At render time, the plugin fetches the remote feed and prints feed item data, including the RSS <title> element, into the page. Per the referenced source in includes/gutenberg/feedzy-rss-feeds-loop-block.php (around lines 207, 241 and 262) and includes/abstract/feedzy-rss-feeds-admin-abstract.php (around line 1758), that title value is not adequately sanitized on output and not escaped when emitted into the HTML context, allowing injected markup and script to break out and execute in the victim's browser. The trust boundary is therefore crossed at output time, which is why save-time filtering provides no protection. The CPE (cpe:2.3:a:themeisle:rss_aggregator_by_feedzy_... ) confirms the affected component is the ThemeIsle Feedzy RSS Aggregator plugin distributed through the WordPress.org plugin repository.

DescriptionCVE.org

The RSS Aggregator by Feedzy - Feed to Post, Autoblogging, News & YouTube Video Feeds Aggregator plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Feedzy Loop Block Feed URL / RSS <title> in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.10 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The payload is not neutralized at save time because post_content stores only a benign block reference to an external feed URL; the malicious HTML is injected at render time from the attacker-controlled RSS feed title, bypassing any save-time wp_kses filtering.
