MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Initial Access, Persistence The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated GLPI account holding the READ right on logs (Administration > Logs / historical entries); with that right the attacker crafts a URL for an item's Historical (history) tab and supplies attacker-controlled affected_fields filter values (e.g. itemtype_link) that reach Log::convertFiltersValuesToSqlCriteria unvalidated. Limiting factors: the READ-on-logs privilege is not held by ordinary/self-service users by default, so exploitation is gated to users with elevated log-viewing permission; affects GLPI 9.4.0 up to but not including 10.0.26 and 11.0.8. No user interaction by a victim is needed. |
| Impact | This is a genuine SQL injection (CWE-89) in GLPI's history/logs tab, corroborated by the vendor advisory GHSA-cpcj-x335-5cmh and two fix commits (1296798f, 80b86c0d) that add key allowlisting and itemtype validation in Log::convertFiltersValuesToSqlCriteria - so the vulnerability itself is well-confirmed. The NVD CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:L, 7.1) is internally consistent and credible: remote and low-complexity, but requiring privileges (PR:L) because the attacker must already hold the READ right on logs, which meaningfully narrows the attacker pool to authenticated GLPI users with an elevated permission. Impact is confidentiality-weighted (VC:H = broad database read) with no integrity impact (VI:N, read-only injection into query criteria) and only limited availability (VA:L). No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit code are provided in the intelligence, so there is no evidence of active or automated exploitation - this is a real, patch-worthy issue but not an emergency drop-everything item, and its priority should track how many low-trust users have the log READ right. No signals conflict; the main caveat is the missing EPSS/KEV/POC data, whose absence is not itself an error. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated GLPI user who has been granted the READ right on logs opens an item's Historical tab and manually crafts the filter URL, placing SQL metacharacters into the affected_fields parameters (e.g. the itemtype_link value) that were passed unvalidated into the query. The injected values alter the underlying database query, allowing the attacker to read data beyond their intended scope. No public proof-of-concept is identified in the provided intelligence. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 25, 2026
SQL injection in GLPI's history/logs tab allows an authenticated attacker who holds the READ right on logs to inject attacker-controlled values into a database query via crafted affected_fields filter parameters in the history-tab URL. The flaw affects GLPI releases from 9.4.0 up to but not including 10.0.26 and 11.0.8, and exploitation is gated by the READ-on-logs privilege, which is not held by ordinary or self-service users by default. No public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation has been identified at time of analysis; the vendor has released fixes in 11.0.8 and 10.0.26, and the issue is well-confirmed by the vendor advisory and two upstream fix commits.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to a fixed release: GLPI 10.0.26 (https://github.com/glpi-project/glpi/releases/tag/10.0.26) or GLPI 11.0.8 (https://github.com/glpi-project/glpi/releases/tag/11.0.8) - vendor-released patch: 11.0.8 and 10.0.26. The relevant upstream changes are commits 1296798fb03295d07c1d97fa8483d1dbab59fef5 and 80b86c0dcad2f6ece9b5da445d1c264a1dda3ce5, which add an allowlist of filter keys and validate itemtype_link values with getItemForItemtype() in Log::convertFiltersValuesToSqlCriteria(); administrators who cannot immediately upgrade can apply these changes manually, but this must be treated as a temporary measure because hand-patched files are overwritten on update. Because exploitation requires the READ right on logs, a strong compensating control is to audit and restrict the Administration > Logs (historical entries) profile right so that only a small set of trusted administrator accounts hold it and self-service or technician profiles do not - the trade-off is that legitimate log review becomes unavailable to the affected roles and misconfigured profiles may lose access to the history tab. Where GLPI is exposed to the internet, place it behind an authenticated reverse proxy/VPN and restrict access to the front-end to trusted networks, which reduces the pool of accounts able to reach the vulnerable endpoint; this does not remove the flaw and can break integrations and remote-user workflows. Because the injection is read-oriented (high confidentiality impact with limited availability effect) but SQL injection can in some deployments also be leveraged for data modification depending on database privileges, the GLPI database account should be checked to ensure it does not hold unnecessary permissions such as FILE or broad DDL rights. Monitor the fixed advisories for any regression or follow-up issues.

Technical ContextAI · show details
GLPI is a PHP-based open-source asset and IT management application backed by a relational database (MySQL/MariaDB). The affected code path is Log::convertFiltersValuesToSqlCriteria() in src/Log.php, which translates the filters/sort parameters submitted by the history tab into SQL criteria. The root cause is CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command): the routine accepted arbitrary filter keys from the request and interpolated their values - notably the itemtype_link affected-field filter - into the generated query without validating that the key was expected or that the value corresponded to a legitimate item type. The two referenced commits harden this function by allowlisting the keys 'linked_action', 'id_search_option' and 'itemtype_link' (continuing past any key outside that set) and by filtering itemtype_link values through getItemForItemtype() so only registered GLPI item types survive; the accompanying phpunit/functional/LogTest.php changes replace non-existent test item types such as 'SomeItem' with real ones (Computer, Monitor, Ticket) and cover the new filtering behavior. The reported CPE cpe:2.3:a:glpi-project:glpi:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* with no version constraint reflects that the affected range spans both maintained branches. The parameter is reachable through the network and requires only the accounts-level log-reading permission, giving a high-confidentiality read primitive against the GLPI database rather than an unauthenticated attack surface.

2DescriptionCVE.org
GLPI is a free asset and IT management software package. From 9.4.0 until 10.0.26 and 11.0.8, an attacker with the READ right on logs can craft a URL for the history tab that injects attacker-controlled values into a database query. This permits SQL injection through the history tab endpoint. This issue is fixed in versions 11.0.8 and 10.0.26.

Executive ViewAI
GLPI, the IT service-management platform many organizations rely on for asset inventory, ticketing, and service-desk workflows, carries a SQL injection flaw in its history/logs tab affecting releases 9.4.0 through 10.0.25 and 11.0.7 (CVE-2026-53629), with vendor advisories citing 10.0.26 and 11.0.8 as the fixed releases even though our patch-status feed shows no patch. Exposure is gated to accounts already holding READ rights on logs, a privilege not granted to ordinary or self-service users by default, and no public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation has been identified at time of analysis. Leadership should care because GLPI concentrates authoritative asset, employee, and service-history data that audit, security operations, and business reporting depend on, so unauthorized query manipulation could undermine the integrity and confidentiality of records other processes trust.
Apply vendor patch: upgrade to GLPI 10.0.26 or 11.0.8. Pending upgrade, restrict the READ right on logs/history to a minimal set of administrative accounts, apply WAF/application-layer filtering to the affected_fields history-tab parameter, and monitor history-tab requests for anomalous query patterns.
