Delegated admin already required (PR:H) and a privileged composite role must exist and be assignable (AC:H); success yields full realm control, giving C:H/I:H/A:H.

3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in the Fine-Grained Admin Permissions (FGAP v2) feature of Keycloak, an identity and access management solution. The issue occurs when the system checks if a delegated administrator has permission to assign a specific role to a user. Because the check does not look inside composite roles to see what other permissions they contain, an administrator with limited rights can assign a role that secretly includes full administrative control. This allows the attacker to gain complete management access over the entire realm.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in the Fine-Grained Admin Permissions v2 (FGAP v2) feature of Keycloak lets an authenticated delegated administrator with role-assignment rights grant a composite role whose transitive contents are never inspected, silently conferring full realm administrative control. Exploitation requires that FGAP v2 be enabled for delegated administration, a limited-admin credential holding role-mapping permissions (CVSS vector PR:H), and the presence of a composite role that transitively contains realm-admin privileges within that administrator's assignable scope; the high attack complexity (AC:H) reflects these preconditions rather than any exploitation difficulty, and the resulting impact is a complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise of the realm (CVSS 6.6). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires the Fine-Grained Admin Permissions v2 (FGAP v2) feature to be enabled and in use for delegated administration, plus an authenticated delegated administrator account that has been granted role-assignment rights (PR:H). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditional privilege-escalation flaw, not a high-CVSS-but-hollow issue nor a top-tier crisis. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch was identified in the available intelligence at time of analysis, and the referenced material consists of the Red Hat CVE record (https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-96448) and the associated Bugzilla entry (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2539291); monitor both for the fixed release and upgrade as soon as a patched version is published. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
