DescriptionCVE.org

The WPGraphQL Smart Cache WordPress plugin before 2.3.2 does not require authorisation or validate a caller-supplied query identifier before storing a persisted query from a request, allowing unauthenticated users to publish arbitrary query documents and claim query aliases before a site's own frontend registers them.

AnalysisAI

Unauthenticated attackers can publish arbitrary persisted query documents and claim (squat) query aliases on WordPress sites running the WPGraphQL Smart Cache plugin before 2.3.2, because the plugin neither requires authorization for the storage request nor validates the caller-supplied query identifier. WPScan reports that publicly available exploit code exists, though there is no confirmed active exploitation (not in CISA KEV); scoring is CVSS 3.1 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L) and the independent assessment characterizes this as a moderate, integrity-focused risk. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires WPGraphQL Smart Cache before 2.3.2 installed on a WordPress site with a reachable WPGraphQL endpoint that stores persisted queries from requests; the plugin performs no authorization check and does not validate the caller-supplied query identifier, so exploitation needs no account or user interaction (PR:N/UI:N). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment Moderate, integrity-focused risk. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade the WPGraphQL Smart Cache plugin to version 2.3.2 or later, which closes the missing authorization and identifier-validation gap on the persisted-query storage path; the fix is available from the vendor and detailed in the WPScan advisory at https://wpscan.com/vulnerability/3563529f-5050-4f92-9a3c-44ee850254bd/ (mirrored at https://vuldb.com/vuln/407868). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
