Exploitation Conditions

Requires an authenticated WordPress account with Author-level capability or higher (PR:L) on a site running Photo Gallery by 10Web ≤1.8.44 - the attacker must be able to publish a post and insert a Photo Gallery shortcode carrying a crafted album_id attribute. No non-default plugin configuration is needed; the vulnerable album_id handling is in the standard frontend gallery rendering path. Exploitation is limited by (1) the Author authentication gate, so it is not reachable by anonymous internet users, and (2) the time-based BLIND nature of the injection, making extraction slow. The payload executes when any visitor renders the post containing the malicious shortcode, so no direct admin interaction is required to trigger it.

Impact

Signals are moderate and internally consistent. CVSS 3.1 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N) frames this as a network-exploitable, low-complexity SQL injection whose main impact is confidentiality (database extraction), gated by PR:L - Author-level authentication. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public POC are provided, so this is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' The C:H rating is justified because SQL injection into a WordPress database exposes all rows including password hashes and secret keys; however, the technique is time-based BLIND injection, meaning extraction is slow and noisy rather than instantaneous, which tempers the practical severity somewhat. The PR:L gate is the key limiter: an attacker must already hold at least Author privileges on the target site, so this is not mass-exploitable against arbitrary internet hosts - it is a privilege-escalation/data-theft primitive for compromised or malicious low-trust accounts. Net: a real but not top-tier priority - patch promptly on multi-author sites, lower urgency on single-admin installs. No conflicting signals detected; the CVSS vector matches the description.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who has registered or compromised an Author-level account on a WordPress site running Photo Gallery by 10Web embeds a malicious album_id value inside a Photo Gallery shortcode within a published post. When any visitor (or admin) renders that post, the unsanitized album_id is concatenated into a UNION-based query, and a time-based blind payload lets the attacker infer database contents (e.g., admin password hashes, secret keys) character-by-character from response delays. No public exploit code is currently identified, but the vulnerable source lines are pinpointed in the WordPress plugin trac references.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 18, 2026

Time-based blind SQL injection in the WordPress plugin Photo Gallery by 10Web - Mobile-Friendly Image Gallery (all versions up to and including 1.8.44) lets an attacker who holds an Author-level account or higher smuggle SQL into the album_id shortcode attribute and read data that the WordPress database user can access. Because the crafted attribute is stored inside a published post, the injected query fires for every visitor who renders that post, and the unsanitized value is placed on both sides of a UNION statement, which can roughly double the timing delay an attacker measures. There is no CISA KEV entry and no public exploit identified at time of analysis; the CVSS 3.1 base score is 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N), and practical exploitation is constrained by the required authenticated Author account and by the slow, blind extraction technique.

RemediationAI

No vendor-released patched version number is confirmed in the available data; a Trac changeset at https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3687152%40photo-gallery&new=3687152%40photo-gallery indicates an upstream fix, so treat this as an upstream fix available (PR/commit) with the released patched version not independently confirmed, and verify the current plugin version on wordpress.org before relying on any specific build. If an update containing that changeset is published, upgrading the plugin is the primary remediation; until then, the highest-leverage compensating control is to minimize the attack surface of the Author role, because PR:L is the gate - audit and remove unnecessary Author, Editor, and Administrator accounts, and tighten the capability mapping so untrusted contributors cannot publish posts. Review existing published content (including drafts and revisions) for Photo Gallery shortcodes carrying unusual album_id values, and remove or neutralize any suspicious shortcodes; note that this is a manual content review and will not detect already-exfiltrated data. Temporarily deactivating the plugin removes the exposure entirely but breaks all existing galleries on the site, so it is suitable only as an emergency measure. Regex- or signature-based WAF rules targeting UNION and SLEEP/BENCHMARK patterns inside shortcode attributes can add a layer of detection, but they are prone to false positives on legitimate gallery markup and are trivially bypassed by obfuscation. Finally, monitor database and web server logs for anomalous response-time patterns on pages containing gallery shortcodes, and restrict the database account privileges used by WordPress so that any successful injection yields the minimum possible data.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The vulnerability is CWE-89 (improper neutralization of special elements used in an SQL command) in the frontend rendering path of the Photo Gallery by 10Web plugin. When a post or page contains the plugin's gallery shortcode, the frontend controller (frontend/controllers/controller.php, around line 51) hands the shortcode attributes to the model layer, where frontend/models/model.php (around lines 172 and 178) builds a query that interpolates album_id directly rather than binding it as a prepared statement parameter. The plugin's shared helper (framework/WDWLibrary.php, line 75) fails to provide adequate escaping for this value, which is why a payload survives from shortcode storage through to the SQL layer. The result is time-based blind injection: the attacker does not receive query output in the HTTP response, so they infer data by injecting conditional delay primitives (for example SLEEP-style expressions) and measuring response latency. An unusual amplifying detail is that the same unsanitized value is inserted on both sides of a UNION construct, so a single request can produce two delay-inducing predicates, making the timing signal more reliable to observe. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:10web:photo_gallery_by_10web_-_mobile-friendly_image_gallery:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* covers the affected plugin line, and the CVSS vector (PR:L, C:H, I:N, A:N, S:U) confirms an authenticated, confidentiality-only impact with no integrity or availability loss and no scope change.

DescriptionCVE.org

The Photo Gallery by 10Web - Mobile-Friendly Image Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via 'album_id' Shortcode Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 1.8.44 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. An Author-level user can store a SQL injection payload inside a published post's shortcode attribute, causing the payload to execute when any visitor renders the post; notably, the unsanitized value appears on both sides of a UNION query, potentially doubling the observable time-based delay.
