Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires an authenticated PrestaShop backoffice session with at minimum the ability to add or edit products or categories (standard shop manager or administrator role). The 'raty' module must be installed and active on the store. The three exploitable parameters (alior_product_promotion, alior_category_promotion, alior_category_enabled) are submitted via POST to the standard PrestaShop backoffice product/category save endpoints. No special network position, protocol configuration, or non-default server setting is needed beyond legitimate backoffice access. Exploitation is not automatable per SSVC, as it depends on interactive backoffice session mechanics. It is limited by the PR:H requirement: unauthenticated external attackers cannot reach the injection points without first compromising admin credentials.

Impact

The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L) scores 8.6, reflecting high confidentiality and integrity impact but gated firmly behind PR:H - full backoffice admin credentials. SSVC corroborates this: Exploitation status is none, Automatable is no, and Technical Impact is total. The combination of high privilege requirement and non-automatable exploitation substantially lowers real-world priority compared to the raw score: the vulnerability cannot be mass-exploited by unauthenticated actors and requires a meaningful initial access step. Even a mid-sized municipal IT team in kielce running an Alior Bank partner storefront should treat this as urgent but not emergency-tier patching - the primary threat actors are compromised or malicious insiders with existing admin access, not opportunistic internet scanners. The 'Authentication Bypass' tag in the input data appears incorrect (see data_quality_flags); the vulnerability does not bypass authentication, it exploits privileges already held. No KEV listing and no public POC have been identified, consistent with the low automated-exploitation likelihood.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who has obtained PrestaShop backoffice credentials - through phishing, credential stuffing, or a compromised internal account - navigates to a product or category edit page and submits a crafted form with a SQL payload embedded in the alior_product_promotion field. The module's hook method passes this value unescaped into an UPDATE query, allowing the attacker to append additional SQL clauses that dump the customer table or alter admin account credentials.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 15, 2026

SQL injection in the Alior Bank 'raty' PrestaShop module (versions 8.0.0-8.1.10 and 9.0.0-9.0.6) permits authenticated backoffice users to inject arbitrary SQL through three unsanitized POST parameters embedded directly in UPDATE queries across product and category hook methods. Successful exploitation enables unauthorized read and modification of the underlying store database, including customer records and sensitive configuration data. Fixed in versions 8.1.11 and 9.0.7 per CERT-PL advisory; no public exploit identified at time of analysis.

RemediationAI

Upgrade the 'raty' module to version 8.1.11 (for 8.x branch deployments) or 9.0.7 (for 9.x branch deployments), which contain the vendor-released patch per the CERT-PL advisory at https://cert.pl/posts/2026/09/CVE-2026-7848. As a compensating control prior to patching, restrict backoffice access to the minimum set of trusted administrators and enable PrestaShop's built-in employee permission granularity to prevent untrusted accounts from reaching product and category edit endpoints. Review server-side access logs for anomalous POST activity to hook-bearing backoffice pages. Stores running versions below 8.0.0 should consult Alior Bank directly for guidance, as the advisory covers only the 8.x and 9.x branches.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The 'raty' module (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:alior_bank:raty) is a PHP-based PrestaShop plugin provided by Alior Bank to enable installment payment options for commercial merchant partners. PrestaShop uses a hook-based event system; the module registers handlers for the ObjectProductUpdateBefore, ObjectCategoryUpdateBefore, and ObjectCategoryAddAfter events. Within these handlers, the POST parameters alior_product_promotion, alior_category_promotion, and alior_category_enabled are concatenated directly into SQL UPDATE statements without prepared statements, parameterized queries, or any input sanitization - a textbook CWE-89 (Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in SQL Commands) root cause. Because the injection point sits inside hook callbacks triggered by standard backoffice save operations, any POST request to those endpoints from an authenticated session is sufficient to deliver the payload.

DescriptionCVE.org

Alior Bank PrestaShop module "raty" for commercial partners is vulnerable to SQL Injection in the "hookActionObjectProductUpdateBefore", "hookActionObjectCategoryUpdateBefore", and "hookActionObjectCategoryAddAfter" hook methods. The module inserts values of the POST parameters "alior_product_promotion",  "alior_category_promotion" and "alior_category_enabled" directly into SQL UPDATE queries without any sanitization or validation. An attacker with access to the product or category add/edit functionality in the PrestaShop backoffice can inject arbitrary SQL, potentially allowing unauthorized access to and modification of database contents. This issue was fixed in versions: 9.0.7 and 8.1.11

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

SQL injection vulnerabilities in the Alior Bank 'raty' PrestaShop module (versions 8.0.0-8.1.10 and 9.0.0-9.0.6) allow authenticated backoffice users to inject arbitrary SQL commands, exposing customer records and sensitive configuration data to unauthorized access and modification. Organizations running affected module versions face direct risk to customer data integrity and confidentiality. Patches are available and should be deployed urgently to close this database-level attack vector.
