| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated session on the AVideo instance (PR:L); unauthenticated access is not sufficient. The target AVideo deployment must have at least one private live schedule configured - instances with no private schedules have nothing to disclose. The attacker must know or enumerate valid schedule identifiers. The email reminder feature must be functional (mail delivery configured). No special platform or non-default configuration beyond these is required. Limiting factors: the disclosed data is restricted to the private schedule title only (not video content or credentials), no privilege escalation or remote code execution is possible, and the integrity impact is limited to spurious reminder job creation. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N) accurately reflects a moderate-severity, low-impact authorization bypass. Real-world risk is limited: exploitation requires an existing authenticated session, the disclosure is confined to the title of a private live schedule (not its content or credentials), and the integrity impact is low (creating unauthorized reminder entries). No public exploit code exists and this CVE has no CISA KEV listing, making active mass exploitation unlikely. Even a mid-sized AVideo deployment in an organization like one in walbrzych would be exposed only if they operate private live schedules and have a meaningful user base that could abuse the reminder feature. The absence of a specific patched release version in available data introduces some remediation uncertainty, though the GitHub security advisory is the authoritative reference. Overall this is a real but low-urgency authorization control gap, not a high-priority incident-response trigger. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated low-privilege AVideo user sends a crafted POST request to remindMe.json.php supplying the identifier of a private live schedule they are not authorized to view. AVideo creates the reminder job without an authorization check and the resulting email job construction exposes the private schedule's title to the requesting user. No public exploit code is required - the attack is trivially reproducible by any logged-in account. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 12, 2026
Missing authorization in WWBN AVideo's remindMe.json.php endpoint allows authenticated users to create scheduler reminders for private live schedules they are not permitted to view. The generated email job leaks the private schedule's title back to the attacker, constituting an information disclosure via IDOR (CWE-639). Affected through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 with no specific patched version confirmed at time of analysis; no public exploit code or CISA KEV entry exists.
RemediationAI
Apply the fix identified in the GitHub security advisory at https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-qf26-4xp7-q5h9, which addresses the missing authorization gate in remindMe.json.php. Operators running AVideo should update to any commit after c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 once a patched release is confirmed. As an immediate compensating control, restrict access to remindMe.json.php at the web-server layer (nginx/Apache) to authenticated users who also pass application-level ACL checks, or temporarily disable the reminder feature by blocking that endpoint if private live schedules are in use and user trust is not fully established. The trade-off of blocking the endpoint is that all users lose the reminder functionality until a proper patch is deployed.

Technical ContextAI · show details
WWBN AVideo is a self-hosted, open-source video and live-streaming platform written in PHP (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:wwbn:avideo). The vulnerability resides in remindMe.json.php, a PHP endpoint responsible for registering scheduler reminders against live schedule entries. The root cause is CWE-639 (Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key): the endpoint accepts a user-controlled schedule identifier without verifying that the authenticated requesting user holds the permission to view that schedule. When AVideo generates the resulting email reminder job, it includes the private schedule's title in the job payload, which is observable to the requester. The flaw bypasses access control at the object level, a class of issue also known as Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR).

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 fails to validate that logged-in users can access live schedules before creating reminders via remindMe.json.php. Authenticated attackers can create scheduler reminders for private live schedules they cannot view and learn the private schedule title from the generated email job.
