DescriptionCVE.org

alf.io is an open source ticket reservation system for conferences, trade shows, workshops, and meetups. An Improper Access Control issue in versions prior to 2.0-M5-2605 allows an organization owner to read system-level configuration secrets through organization/event scoped "single configuration" endpoints. The affected endpoints require organization or event ownership, but they accept an arbitrary configuration key and then return the first matching value from a lookup that includes system-level configuration. As a result, an organization owner can retrieve secrets intended to be administrator-only, including the system API key when it is configured. Version 2.0-M5-2605 fixes the issue.

AnalysisAI

Improper access control in alf.io's organization/event-scoped 'single configuration' endpoints allows authenticated organization owners to exfiltrate system-level secrets-including the administrator system API key-by supplying arbitrary configuration key names to endpoints that perform a cross-scope lookup without restricting results to the caller's authorization tier. All alf.io deployments running versions prior to 2.0-M5-2605 where organization-owner accounts are held by partially trusted or untrusted parties are affected. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires a valid alf.io account holding organization or event ownership (PR:L per CVSS 4.0); anonymous users and lower-privilege attendee accounts cannot exploit this directly. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:L/VA:N with a score of 7.1 reasonably characterizes the vulnerability: network-accessible, low-complexity exploitation requiring only organization-owner credentials (PR:L), with high confidentiality impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade alf.io to version 2.0-M5-2605 or later, which restricts the configuration key lookup on organization/event 'single configuration' endpoints to prevent returning system-tier values. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI
