2DescriptionCVE.org
The Podlove Podcast Publisher plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'episode_contributor[..][..][comment]' Parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.5.5 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The contributor comment is stored in a plugin-managed custom table, bypassing WordPress core's wp_kses_post filter, and the save_post hook fires without a nonce check, meaning any user who can edit posts can exploit this without further preconditions.
AnalysisAI
Stored Cross-Site Scripting in the Podlove Podcast Publisher WordPress plugin (all versions through 4.5.5) allows authenticated contributor-level users to inject persistent arbitrary JavaScript into episode pages via the episode_contributor comment parameter. The vulnerability is compounded by two design flaws: contributor comments are stored in a plugin-managed custom database table that bypasses WordPress core's wp_kses_post sanitization filter, and the save_post hook fires without a nonce check, removing CSRF protection that would otherwise limit exploitation. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires an authenticated WordPress account at contributor level or above on the target site. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 3.1 vector of AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N scores 6.4 (Medium), but the UI:N metric is debatable for stored XSS: the attack payload executes when a victim visits the injected page, which represents a user-interaction dependency (UI:R) that the provided vector omits. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
