4DescriptionCVE.org
Backend administrators without system maintainer privileges were able to schedule any of the configuration:read, configuration:set, and configuration:show commands. This allowed them to modify arbitrary system configuration, which is normally limited to system maintainers. As a consequence, this allowed them, for example, to gain system maintainer privileges or cause a denial of service. Exploiting this vulnerability requires an administrator-level backend user account. This issue affects TYPO3 CMS versions 14.2.0-14.3.6.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in TYPO3 CMS 14.2.0-14.3.6 allows backend administrators without system-maintainer privileges to schedule configuration commands (configuration:set, configuration:show, configuration:read) through the TYPO3 scheduler module, bypassing the role-based authorization that normally restricts these operations to the highest privilege tier. An attacker holding a backend administrator account can leverage this to silently elevate themselves to system-maintainer status or corrupt system configuration to trigger a denial of service. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid TYPO3 backend user account with administrator-level privileges - not anonymous access, not a low-privilege editor account. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.5 with PR:H correctly reflects that only authenticated backend administrators can exploit this flaw, substantially narrowing the attack surface compared to typical critical-severity findings. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The upstream fix is available in GitHub commits b8abe36978c63a0625aee70df078895216e7ee27 and e15da7ba0218532240578b471152f76c13cb4154 in the TYPO3/typo3 repository; however, no explicitly tagged patched release version was included in the advisory data, so this should be treated as an upstream fix available pending a confirmed patched release. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
