DescriptionCVE.org

The WP Fusion (Pro) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 3.47.13. This is due to insufficient authorization checks on the role parameter in the ThriveCart Auto Login handler's thrivecart() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, and who possess the access_key, to create a new user account with administrator privileges and gain full control over the WordPress site. The required access_key is intentionally shared with ThriveCart customers as part of the plugin's documented setup process, making it accessible to attackers who have made a purchase. The vulnerability is only exploitable when the ThriveCart Auto Login option is enabled.

AnalysisAI

Privilege escalation in WP Fusion (Pro) for WordPress allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access to create new administrator accounts and achieve full site compromise. The vulnerability resides in the ThriveCart Auto Login handler's thrivecart() function, which fails to enforce authorization on the role parameter during user account creation, enabling callers to self-assign the administrator role. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Two explicit preconditions must both be satisfied: (1) the ThriveCart Auto Login option must be deliberately enabled within the WP Fusion plugin settings - this is a non-default integration feature, not active in standard installations without ThriveCart configuration; and (2) the attacker must possess the site's WP Fusion access_key, which per the CVE description is intentionally shared with all ThriveCart customers as part of the plugin's documented setup process, meaning any historical purchaser from the operator's ThriveCart account may hold it. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, score 7.5) accurately captures the two hard prerequisites that justify AC:H: the ThriveCart Auto Login feature must be explicitly enabled by the site operator, and the attacker must hold the plugin's access_key. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation The primary remediation is to upgrade WP Fusion (Pro) to the first version released after 3.47.13 - consult the official changelog at https://wpfusion.com/documentation/faq/changelog/ to confirm the exact patched release, as no specific fixed version number appears in the available data. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
