DescriptionCVE.org

Pangolin before 1.22.0 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to access any protected resource by supplying an attacker-controlled URL parameter to the share-link authentication endpoint that omits the expected resource identifier from the token verification call. Attackers holding a single valid share link for any resource can authenticate against arbitrary resources across different organizations, bypassing all configured authentication methods including SSO, resource passwords, PIN codes, email allowlists, and header authentication.

AnalysisAI

Authentication bypass in Pangolin before 1.22.0 allows any attacker holding a single valid share link - for any resource, in any organization - to authenticate against arbitrary protected resources by supplying an attacker-controlled URL parameter to the share-link authentication endpoint that causes the token verification call to omit the expected resource identifier. All configured authentication layers are bypassed simultaneously, including SSO, resource passwords, PIN codes, email allowlists, and header authentication. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The attacker must possess at least one valid share link for any resource on the target Pangolin instance - the specific resource or organization the share link belongs to is irrelevant. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N) reflects a network-exploitable flaw requiring no complexity or user interaction, with the only prerequisite being possession of one valid share link (PR:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade Pangolin to version 1.22.0 immediately; this is the confirmed vendor-released patch per the GitHub release tag at https://github.com/fosrl/pangolin/releases/tag/1.22.0. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, audit and inventory all active share links in production, immediately disable or rotate links with broad permissions, and implement emergency rate limiting on the share-link authentication endpoint. …
